In the post-2019 era, we have never had a domestic box office quarter hit as much as $2.7 billion
Q2'23 hit $2.67B (the first Mario movie), and Q2'25 repeated the feat (Minecraft).
I now believe Q2'26 will hit at least $2.9B and be the 5th all time highest Q2 ever.
Don't miss this! We haven't even hit $2.7 in 7 years (for ANY quarter) and we're about to jump past 2.7, past 2.8 and right up to 2.9. That's nearly $300 million dollars higher at just the domestic box office (now think global) than any quarter in seven years.
We have a few weeks left for more upside (or downside) surprises so let's see, but it seems Toy Story, Disclosure Day, and Supergirl's openings are all becoming clear (I track all this), while Obsession, The Backrooms, Scary Movie, and Masters of the Universe are all easily forecast at this point too.
Then we'll be following up with q3 looking extremely strong as well (I'll publish a forecast in coming weeks and it looks amazing.)
AMC's cash flows are going to be fun to watch.
How 'bout that operating leverage and laughing last?
PS - here's a link to a cash flow discussion for AMC which is now too conservative (though still amazing) because Q2 is tracking better than when I made the video, but it'll give great context

The real resistance is not a position supported by the media, academia, athletes, music artists, actors, and the masses.
The real resistance is those who speak truth in the face of the bullies of our time.
To call out the violence, insanity, and fraud will cost some a lot.
To do nothing will cost all everything
Yesterday, AMC announced it's HIGHEST first day pre-sales for a studio movie in 4 years (with the Odyssey)!
But what you missed (probably) is this... AMC ONLY sold tickets to PLF screens (Premium Large Format) yesterday.
Those screens are only around 6% of total AMC / Odeon screens and only account for around 30% of attendance*. So now let's reconsider how big the Odyssey may be...
AMC did NOT sell tickets yet on the screens which drive 70%* of its attendance!! Read that again... AMC had the biggest first day pre-sale in 4 years while only selling tickets to screens that cover about 30%* of its normal ticket sales. AMC hasn't even started presales on the other 70%*!!
Wow. Just wow.

As it turns out, for Christopher Nolan‘s much awaited The Odyssey, AMC recorded our highest first-day ticket sales for any studio-released movie title since 2022.
My apologies if you encountered a long ticketing line on the AMC web site and app yesterday.
Fortunately, we still have MILLIONS more available seats for you to catch what is sure to be a global phenomenon.
Ironically, the only first-day AMC ticket sales results since 2022 that topped The Odyssey were for our very own music-oriented projects from our own AMC Theatres Distribution, namely first-day ticket sales for the Renaissance concert film from Beyonce in 2023 and our two Taylor Swift efforts in 2023 and again in 2025.
Other than our early sales for the Beyonce and Taylor projects, The Odyssey first-day dollars in hand outpaced those of the many hundreds of studio-released movies of the past four years.
What a turn of events.
For years I would check all my local @AMCTheatres each day to get a temperature check on how hot or cold the theaters were doing.
There were occasions, far and few between, where I’d see almost full theaters and even more distant and fewer between sold out showings.
This year though, it’s been rare not to have at least a few theaters not show almost full showings—every single day of the week—and it’s no longer rare to have sold out showings.
Same theaters, same seating capacity but this year all of those once unoccupied seats are now completely packed, popcorn overflowing, the smell of warm pretzels and pizza in the air, a line as big as guests waiting to enter Disneyland just to buy concessions.
Business is booming for AMC.
The stock price is not forward looking because those in control of it are terrified to remove their hands from their eyes and see the horror they brought on themselves believing AMC was destined for bankruptcy.
We all must eventually, at some point, face our fears. Short sellers included.

Jeff Bezos: "If people want me to pay more billions, then let's have that debate, but don't pretend that that's gonna solve the problem. You could double the taxes I pay, and it's not gonna help that teacher in Queens.... Airbnb isn't causing high rents. What's really causing high rent is government intervention."
AMC welcomed 4.2 million moviegoers from Thursday through Sunday during the Memorial Day weekend across its U.S. AMC Theatres and international ODEON Cinemas locations.
