Very much agree with this letter.
3 years ago we started Gemma aligned with this vision, that building a thriving open weight model ecosystem was critical and likely a huge component of our future industry.
Today we continue to invest and push Gemma to be maximally useful for developers, and I’m personally very bullish on the open ecosystem it enables.
Thanks @JensenHuang and also great to see you here!
For my first post, I’m sharing a letter @NVIDIA signed on why open models matter.
AI will transform every industry, power every company, and be built by every country.
Open models strengthen safety and cybersecurity, accelerate innovation and diffusion, and enable sovereignty.
The world needs both frontier closed models and frontier open models.

In the spirit of making Antigravity accessible everywhere, we just launched remote control from the app and headlessly from the terminal. Happy coding, the usage limits are quite generous 🙂
Excited to see you all tonight. We've had a blast building Gemma and engaging with open model enthusiasts. Tonight we retrace some of this journey!

Today we're launching Gemini 3.7 Flash - our latest workhorse model for coding and agentic workflows, with an introductory price at half the original cost of 3.6 Flash. ⚡️
We have been iterating rapidly with the Flash series, going from 3.5 to 3.7 in just 3 months, making it more helpful across a wide range of tasks:
• Software Engineering (DeepSWE v1.1): 37.0% ➔ 65.3%
• Web Development (Code Arena Elo): 1506 ➔ 1588
• Enterprise Automation (AutomationBench): 13.4% ➔ 30.4%
1B+ people are now using @Geminiapp every month to spark new ideas and get things done. It’s our fastest growing product ever, and our 14th to hit the 1B-user mark.
Kudos to @JoshWoodward & the entire Gemini team, and thank you to everyone who has been on this journey with us - much more to come!
Join us in celebrating the upcoming 1 billion downloads of Gemma models🥳
A fun in-person evening with live demos and great people from the open models community
Excited to see you all there!

Thanks, @sundarpichai, honored to lead GDM into this next chapter. This is such a pivotal moment for us as we double down on our Gemini models, frontier AI research, and the products we build for our users and partners.
I want to congratulate @demishassabis on his new role as Chief Scientist of Alphabet and Chair of Google DeepMind. His vision has always been central to our work, and I’m excited to keep working together as we build AGI 🚀
One brain. For any robot. 🤖
We’re launching Gemini Robotics 2: our next-generation physical AI bringing full body intelligence to humanoids, advanced dexterity, multi-robot teamwork and more.
We’ve been steadily growing adoption of Gemma over the past 3 years.
One key aspect is we focus on fairly compact, easily self-deployable form factors, so that you can easily build fully local or hybrid intelligent applications.
We’ve seen tons of great ones built on mobile and laptop shapes. Robots included!
Let us know what you want to see more of.
Also renewing our commitment to keep pushing the quality of what we open up => https://t.co/dFa8anBEbS

A strong and secure open ecosystem is important for the world to benefit from AI. We’ve always supported and contributed heavily to open source and science from Jax to Transformers to AlphaFold to Gemma open models which have now been downloaded 300M+ times. And the standards framework we’ve proposed supports responsible deployment of both open and proprietary models.
Very much agree with this letter.

The Gemma series is an amazing set of highly performant open-weight models. They have proven extremely effective in industrial settings where site-deployed agents need exactly this as a base for domain-specific fine-tuning that even Fable-class models cannot match in accuracy.
Presumably the Gemma team has been excellent at “distilling” from the Gemini-class models to get such capabilities.
This is a $25T category. Remember, the “frontier” is not spherical. It is extremely jagged, and it isn’t just among the trillion-parameter group.
Very happy to support this on behalf of Google. We have long benefited from open source, are big contributors to open source and in fact have consistently made open weights models with Gemma available from @GoogleDeepMind@demishassabis . Onwards!
Introducing Gemini 3.6 Flash & 3.5 Flash-Lite — built on developer and customer feedback for scaling AI agents.
3.6 Flash: our workhorse model delivers better coding, knowledge work, and multimodal performance while reducing token usage.
3.5 Flash-Lite: fastest, most cost-effective 3.5-class model — significantly outperforming prior Flash-Lite generations and built for high-throughput applications.
Also introducing 3.5 Flash Cyber, a specialized model built on top of 3.5 Flash, and fine-tuned for finding and fixing cybersecurity vulnerabilities.
