During our 3 days of live coverage at KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe, we hear from Docker CEO Scott Johnston about their latest release.

“[Build Cloud} is giving time back for developers at the high end. We see it speeding up builds by 39 times,” Johnston says. “To put that in context, what used to take an hour now takes a minute and a half.”

How’s it work?

“Docker, until today, has been constrained by the local CPU disk memory. What we do behind the scenes with Docker Build is offload it to the cloud. So instead of the local GPU, you can use a big GPU in the cloud. You can use a much bigger node in the cloud with more memory and more CPU,” Johnston furthers.

The second speed factor is the Build Cloud’s ability to cache builds for #DevOps teams.

“If a team of 10 is using the same set of images, why should each one build it themselves again and again? We cache it and that speeds it up as well,” Johnston explains.

Trying Docker Build Cloud, and my first impressions are great! We at Ddosify offer self-hosted deployment options and support amd64 and arm64 architectures. I tried it with Ddosify Frontend, written in React. It reduces the build time from ~37 min to ~5 min ⚡️
