Action Simon

Early Career Freshwater Scientist; Open to a PhD study in Water

[Action Simon @simaction]

Hello everyone! I'm Action, an Environmental Scientist & Hydrobiologist based in Africa.
I spend my days monitoring the Water Quality of Streams, Lakes & Wetlands. Why? Because clean water = better matooke, fish,... and fewer "why is my borehole smelling like a swamp?" 😂

I was winding up some work on my laptop before going to bed when my housemaid appeared at my bedroom door. She stood there quietly for a moment, hesitant, as if searching for the right words. Then she said softly, “Sir, I want to talk to you about something.” I half-closed my laptop and told her to go ahead.

What she said next caught me completely off guard. “I think it would be wise for us to start praying together as a family,” she said. For a few seconds I was speechless. Of all the things I expected to hear that night, that was the last thing on my mind.

I looked at her and asked, “You really think we should do that?” She nodded firmly. She explained that family is not just about eating together, laughing together, and helping each other with housework. There should also be moments when everyone comes together to seek God and pray as one.

Her words touched me deeply. Without hesitation, I closed my laptop completely and invited her inside. We knelt beside the bed and prayed together. It was a simple moment, yet it felt incredibly powerful and special, with a peace in the room I cannot fully explain.

That night reminded me that the most beautiful lessons sometimes come from the people we least expect. Wisdom can come from anyone, regardless of their position in the home. I can now say without a doubt that my housemaid is not just helping around the house she is truly a blessing to my family.

@HonByamukama @PoliceUg This initiative is welcome. I pray that the ministry also coordinates measures to ensure that travellers are not stranded on the roads due to scarcity of transporters. Thank you!

@mututoby870 @EddiePages The cap is called Fair Usage Policy. It ensures that a small number of heavy users cannot hog all the bandwidth at the expense of everyday customers

[Action Simon @simaction]

@DoreenNyanjura It's called Price Differentiation. Businesses use this method to match what different buyers are willing to pay, helping them increase overall sales and make more money. Ironically, it's 100% legal.

Just learned that "Magnesium sulphate injection treats severe pregnancy-related seizures (eclampsia), low blood levels of magnesium, and specific types of irregular heartbeats" and that it's factory is being launched today, in Namanve wetland (now industrial park) in Uganda

[Action Simon @simaction]

@jeff_mukunya @_papawere Very ironic. As if we turned amphibian

[Action Simon @simaction]

What’s the funniest/most frustrating water pollution excuse you’ve heard?

[Action Simon @simaction]

@_papawere @jeff_mukunya I'll go first.
I often here people say "I only threw in one bag of trash." It's likely that the rest must have walked into the water by themselves!" 🚮

@assempebwa Because the traffic officers are not looking at any of the mentioned documents, but rather a paper in your wallet.

[Action Simon @simaction]

@_papawere Same way electricity reduced in strength. Hardly shocks nowadays 🤦

[Action Simon @simaction]

There's always a creative way to avoid extinction. Just have to find out one 🤦

[PRINCIPAL 🇺🇬 @_papawere]

It looks like mosquitoes have now turned insecticide into body spray to smell good among their peers because man even if you spray them using the whole tin of insecticide they don't die. What is happening in this country 🤣🤣🤣🙌

[musiimenta Kristin @kristinmusiime]

@simaction The fact that you are doubting is proof enough 🤣🤣🤣🤣
