Does anyone else find it scientifically amazing that in 37 minutes Lindsay Clancy did everything the State alleged and ultimately ended up on the ground, soaked, with a core temp 82°?

When only female jurors spoke, the men had a lot to say. Now a male juror has spoken and they’re calling him a cuck. These people don’t care about truth or justice. They only care about burning this woman at the stake.

So it turns out that the hold out juror in the Lindsay Clancy trial admitted during deliberations that he had reasonable doubt as to her guilt, but refused to vote her not guilty — and men are acting as if he did something heroic.

What he actually did is called juror misconduct. He voted to convict a woman about whose guilt he felt reasonable doubt. That is the exact opposite of how the justice system is supposed to work. This man isn’t a hero. He’s a jackass who almost certainly broke sequestration, and decided to prove a point even though he admitted that what he was doing was wrong. He literally voted against his own conscience and the judge’s instructions. For all of you out there cheering him on — I just hope that you’re never at the mercy of a man like that.

One thing the Lindsay Clancy case has really driven home for me is how much I simply don’t know what women can experience during pregnancy and after having a child.

I’m a man. I’ve never experienced it and I never will. So when women talk about how real and terrifying postpartum depression and postpartum psychosis can be, I think it’s important that we listen. PPD and postpartum psychosis is real and in severe cases women can experience delusions, hallucinations and lose touch with reality. That isn’t something someone can just “snap out of.”

None of this excludes accountability for Lindsay Clancy killing her three children. What happened to those children is horrific and their lives and future mattered. We can acknowledge that while also recognizing that pregnancy and childbirth can come with very real and sometimes devastating mental health complications.

Both things can be true. And women should never be afraid to say they need help.
