New research suggests a 2,700-year-old Assyrian carving, smashed by ISIS in Mosul, may have been the earliest known depiction of Jerusalem.

🔹 The bas-relief was carved in the palace of Assyrian king Sennacherib
🔹 It appears to show Jerusalem intact, not destroyed
🔹 A lone royal figure may depict King Hezekiah
🔹 The scene aligns with both the Bible and Assyrian records
🔹 If confirmed, it predates the famous Madaba Map by 1,200 years

Sennacherib famously wrote:
“I trapped Hezekiah in Jerusalem like a bird in a cage”
—but never claimed he conquered the city.
ISIS tried to erase history.
