Hey @MarvelRivals@NetEaseGames_EN - Please do not ignore issues concerning bigotry & censorship in your community/game.
The community needs to hear SOMETHING from you
Dear @MarvelRivals@zingodude
Please don't kill your game.
I noticed a lot of creators moving away from the game in general. @kpxchris's announcement hit the hardest for me because his patience before and since Blade's release had been tested time and time again and while I understand reality often disappoints, he's not the only person with a platform - let alone on the internet - that has continued to express their disdain for the mishandling of major issues namely racism, flagrant character bias, game balance and many deeprooted issues I can't even begin to describe.
The continued negligence and ignorance shown by all teams across the board at @NetEaseGames_EN is embarrassing. It makes playing this game not only feel like torture, but also makes everyone else think that the loud minority of toxic players represent the game. Every promise made on each dev vision became more and more PR-focused rather than an actual declaration that you're trying to do better.
Now, just to be clear, this isn't a complaint. This isn't hatemail. I'm not asking you to buff my favorite marvel character(s). I'm not asking for more skins for my favorite marvel character(s). I'm not asking to nerf anything. And most importantly, this post was not made with the intent to bitch or virtue signal.
I'm writing this post to express how much I love this game and STILL believe it can be much bigger and greater than what it is now. I don't have a huge following yet I STILL find a way to put out content on this game whenever I can and enjoy doing it. I've met so many amazing people because of this game. No matter how many times I am tested by ranked and bad games, I STILL come back and grind. I'm also not some.. cracked hitscan or gamesense god tank or support. I'm fully aware I am just like any average player and these are personal issues I need to work through that are irrelevant, BUT, even the best of the best has continued to complain and criticize decisions made by the dev team and eventually the fatigue is going to catch up to them as it did with a decent percentage of the playerbase.
@LytePk, @SpaarkChief and @TrqstO are examples of pure, unadulterated passion for the game, and I idolize them both for the patience they show online as well as their attitudes towards winning, losing and improving. But even the greatest degree mental fortitude will show cracks after repeated abuse. People also repeatedly echoing hatred and abuse due to unrest or obsession with nonchalance alongside the devs' negligence will ultimately cause this as well.
Free will is a human right, but it goes without saying that there is a list of things that people can do that are morally unacceptable under any circumstances. Still, this is also why gray areas tend to get abused. Corporations are getting bolder and bolder with their bullshit within the gaming community in general. There are some companies doing their part in fighting back, but it's up to us to keep bringing light to issues like this because issues like this actively poison gamers' love for what they do.
So please @NetEaseGames_EN, don't just be another corporate machine. Profit margins are important but there has to be a limit. Balance can't be fixed overnight. The community can't be fixed overnight. The rift between casuals and creators vs competitive players and pros can't be fixed overnight, but I only ask that you actually make good on your promises.
I don't care how delusional this sounds to anyone reading. I care, and if you care, good. If you don't, find something you DO care about.
Sincerely,
A Marvel Rivals player.
one support ult drops and suddenly all skill expression is out the window for 80% of the roster for the next 10-15 seconds. this game is fun but it’s cocomelon overwatch let’s be real
The skill ceiling in Marvel Rivals is way deeper than people think.
It’s not just mechanics, ult usage, or knowing when to walk up. It’s understanding power positions, drafting, hero bans, matchup-specific hero choices, and how your decisions change around cooldown cycles and different sustain archetypes.
Every game asks something different from you.
Sometimes you need to take damage to create value for your supports. Sometimes you need to completely change your mentality on dive and recognize when peeling is actually the winning play. Certain heroes can completely change how the entire lobby has to think.
Draft knowledge is also becoming a real skill. Hero bans and matchup-specific picks demand a deeper understanding of hero selection than Overwatch historically required, and as bans become more important there too, I think that side of the game will only grow.
Communication might be one of the most underrated skills of all. It’s not just “I’m going here, good luck everybody else.” You can create setups, manipulate space, activate teammates, and build plays around matchups if everyone understands the idea.
And being able to explain something to a teammate without making them defensive about the knowledge gap is a skill by itself.
The real skill expression is learning why every game is different — and adapting faster than everyone else.
@dawnforest_ spidey ult can be ccd, storm can be killed through, star lord you can LOS him, Elsa’s ult is breakable, punisher is killable and can be LOSs, Gorr is killable and ccable, like what ?
let’s say you’re elsa bloodstone, the best dps in the game but don’t have ult and Luna snow ults. you have 0 ability to make an impact for the next 10-15 seconds in neutral. it’s quite literally a stalemate unless mag is hitting consistent half court fadeaways through shields the entire game
Creative and fun strategist designs cannot exist in the current Rivals environment.
Due to fundamental issues across high healing, damage, cooldown economy and bloated or poorly designed kits,
Creative strategist heroes that don’t fit the mould are rejected by the community. Subsequently, they’re given stat buffs, their weaknesses are shaved off, and they are turned into another Luna-type. Or they live forever as a 3sup merchant.
As a result, there’s one playstyle in most games.
Unless room is made in the ecosystem of the game to accomodate designs that don’t provide value through healing 95% of the time, expect support Doom with ranged 130HP/s healing and a circle heal ult.
