@greg_ashman @ktibus Great thread. The red tape around receiving adequete funding for students with additional needs is appalling in Victoria, where public schools scrape by despite a lack of resourcing. The ABC article article entirely missed the point!

@PEgeekscorner Love these 👏 New idea - adjust expectations per student and take the wins. A paragraph from a student on the autism spectrum might be a huge win, even if the task for the whole class was to write an entire essay.

Just drove past a private school that received government funding for capital works. They now have beautiful government funded buildings while the the same Federal government is not funding capital works in public schools. I don’t know how we approve of this as a society.

@HazleMitch @AEUVictoria As a teacher & union member, I'm more than happy for the AEU to advocate for peace in our schools (and would be horrified if they didn't!). I think most teachers, despite salary & workload disputes, would wholeheartedly agree. Our kids are the most important thing.

@abcnews @Stella_Assange @FergusonNews SO disappointed and appauled that @abcnews didn't even mention the appeal beginning today in our Victorian news broadcoast!! I think the copycat gin label story could wait. The life of an Aus citizen hangs in the balance.

@reallykazcooke As a primary school teacher, it requires careful nuance to explain our history & truths in an age-appropriate way, esp with the littlies. I'd love to see a F-12 'truth telling' scope and sequence, inclu resources, for educators to follow, with input from elders, psychologists,etc

@johnqgoh If public schools were funded to their minimum resource standard, this might make sense, but alas, fundraising & voluntary contributions are essential to our system. Seems strange that the school funding issues weren't given a huge emphasis in this article 🤷‍♀️

@lustreeducation As a young female Australian teacher, this was a wonderful, thought provoking & timely read for the school holidays. I often find myself searching for 'best practice' in approaches to discipline, with varying levels of success. Would love to read more!
