Today Justin from the Cobb Watershed provided hands-on weathering and erosion station labs. Science is always better when you can see it, feel it, and experiment with it! 💧🪨 @GarrettMSGators
Shaking things up in science!🌍✨ Getting hands-on with plate tectonics to see how mountains rise, earthquakes shake, and continents drift. Learning that Earth is always on the move!

“Building the Watershed: Students construct a hands-on model to explore how water flows across land, shaping rivers and communities, -and how our choices impact water quality downstream.” Teacher tip: Give clear instructions when using water bottles…@GarrettMSGators
Students were tasked with writing poems to describe the phases of the moon. They participated in a gallery walk to provide positive feedback on their classmates work. I was amazed at the quality of their work. A great way to end the unit! @GarrettMSGators
Kicking off solar and lunar eclipses with the orange moon phenomenon! Students generated questions to explain the orange moon and wrote poetry to describe the moon’s phases. @GarrettMSGators
On vacay I learned that Chicxulub was the site of the asteroid landing that exterminated the dinosaurs! Of course I had to use it as a phenomena for asteroids. Students looked at pictures and videos to write questions to determine what caused the massive crater. @GarrettMSGators
A personal goal of mine this year was being intentional about grouping my students in manner more conducive for discussions. Yes, it takes a little more management. But, the conversations are worth it! @GarrettMSGators
Ever wondered what our galaxy really looks like? Check out this 3D model of the Milky Way Galaxy — our cosmic neighborhood! @GarrettMSGators@Rockey_And
Mrs. Simmons had students engaging in great conversations as they were participating in a soil comparison lab. It's always deep learning and hands-on engagement when I visit. ☺️ @simmonsgms@GarrettMSGators#SoilScience#EarthMatters
Kicking off the Rocks and Minerals unit with the red diamond phenomenon! Thanks @TracyAMatthews! The students generated questions to explain this phenomenon and worked together to research them! @GarrettMSGators@Rockey_And
Assessing prior knowledge is key when introducing a new concept. My students said they’d never made fossils! I had to fix that! It was a messy good time! @GarrettMSGators@Rockey_And@danizcrump
Wrapping up Unit 4! The students engaged in lessons about water filtration with Cobb Watershed, explored phenomena, and investigated how salinity affects density! It’s been a blast! @GarrettMSGators@Rockey_And@CaliScienceCCSD
A huge shoutout to Dr. Johnson and Ms. Leeser from Campbell Middle! The C.E.R presentation was informative and valuable! @CaliScienceCCSD@GarrettMSGators
