@InfiniteEdgeKim@jamiesalsburg Yes, it can make a difference, how you execute is important, both analytical methods and incentives. And it's all integrated e.g., policy, marketing, etc. There are a dozen or so areas that all need to work in synch, we know there is no single silver bullet solution!
@InfiniteEdgeKim@robertlenzhofer No not strange, just reflecting the tricky challenge of balancing freedom v. protection, probably still the holy grail of the industry
@InfiniteEdgeKim@robertlenzhofer Hey Kim are you suggesting affordability checks are shelved, in part, to enable proceeds of crime to be taxed indirectly via regulated gambling? Might be a hard one to sell…
Having taken a break from the gambling industry over the past 12 months I'm now sharing my efforts to get back up to speed with where the industry is at with regards to solutions and services in consumer protection and compliance. https://t.co/CBHTpPUcX8 via @LinkedIn
@pmarca Where AI is performing a safety function, for example ensuring autonomous vehicles are safe, I’m struggling to see how this can be considered censorship? There are genuine concerns with AI safety in some applications. But yes, ethics/regulation/safety overlap a lot
@MicrobiomDigest I know Mark, he is obsessive about his work, he is a prolific writer, and is highly engaging, which could explain his ability to collaborate and write so much. But I question the quality - I know how hard it is to write genuinely novel and empirical research
I’ve penned some thoughts on how data could strengthen gambling regulations. A complex area, lots to consider to do it well, interested if you agree or have better approaches?

@pmddomingos Open sourcing code goes a long way to addressing ML ethical concerns - ethical concerns are not fabricated, but asking one internal group to solve the issues I agree might not be the best solution
@InfiniteEdgeKim Yeah understood, I’m all for variety and innovation, the problem is when the players don’t know what they are playing, are marketed games unsuitable for them, and have a bad experience.
The debate on gambling reform in the UK is intensifying. Different stakeholders have different policy objectives that predominantly align with their own interests and which do not coincide with those of certain other groups e.g.,
What’s missing from the debate in the UK is i) mutual respect amongst stakeholders and engagement across the board, ii) a whole systems approach to developing policies to reduce gambling harms, and iii) a detailed consumer view of the key issues.
