It was described as the “safest and most robust assisted dying legislation” by **supporters** of the Bill.
Not a single Royal Medical College OR Professional Body in this country will say the Bill is safe. Let alone it being the “safest”.
Absolutely dismayed that the Assisted Dying Bill is being re-introduced. Not a single one of our major medical or professional bodies support it. A deeply flawed and dangerous bill that poses a real risk to the most vulnerable in our society.
I hate to break it to Mr Habib but nobody and I mean NOBODY gives a flying satsuma what he thinks or wants or is open to. Another irritated unelected armchair commentator who thinks his money gives him status
BREAKING NEWS:
“A DEAL HAS TO BE DONE.”
Ben Habib signals he’s open to talks in 2028 with Rupert Lowe, Nigel Farage and Kemi Badenoch to prevent a left-wing government.
@mrmarkdolan@benhabib6
“Number 10 will not listen.”
We’ve been saying that for two years- winter fuel, welfare cuts, family farm tax, Chagos, National Insurance, Unemployment Rights, Oil and Gas, Defence Investment Plan…
But now even Labour MPs are saying it out loud too.
The original report of the Tory leader's remarks about the possibility of her working with Reform in govt was misleading and I've consequently deleted my Tweet welcoming what she did NOT say :)

Some said yesterday that Tory leader Kemi Badenoch shouldn’t have gone on defence spending at #PMQs. She did, and the next day, Labour’s defence Secretary resigns.
We’ve seen the same before. When Kemi goes hard, she gets results. We need Kemi Badenoch as Prime Minister.
BUT SHE DID NOT SAY THAT. Did she? Did Reform leave a copy of their Misquote Playbook on your photocopier? Isn’t there enough mis/disinformation out there without you adding to it?
@KemiBadenoch is 💯 correct: we stand as Conservatives to win as Conservatives with the commitment to serve our country with refreshed and renewed vigour and commitment
This is bullshit.
What I ACTUALLY said is we "cannot have another left-wing government. But I'm afraid that Reform has quite a lot of left-wing ideas. They want more benefits. They want nationalisation”
I then said.
On "deals, non-aggression pacts and so on....I'm just saying no. It's just no, no, no, no, no, no, no."
@JohnHealey_MP is a man of honour and decency. Government needs people like him. Let us hope his resignation is not in vain and the PM, as First Lord of the Treasury, exerts (what’s left) of his authority and secures the £ needed to defend our islands, her people and values
In a week of depressing news the completion of La Sagrada Familia has the power to lift (momentarily) the spirit. I first saw the church in 1979. No one thought it would ever be completed. With faith or none the message is: the human spirit can achieve the perceived impossible
Funding illegal Israeli settlements is not charitable activity. It is extremist activity.
Working with Israeli human researchers, I found at least 32 UK charities who have sent £28 million to settlements in recent years.
There’s a likely taxpayer subsidy of at least £5 million
Statement by Rabbi Josh Levy & Rabbi Charley Bagisnky, Co-leads of The Movement for Progressive Judaism in response to UK sanctions on entities linked to West Bank settlement expansion and violence. “We welcome the UK government's decision to impose targeted sanctions on those responsible for financing, enabling and carrying out settler violence in the West Bank. As Progressive Jews, we have consistently opposed settlement expansion, settler violence and moves towards annexation. Settler violence is not only an attack on Palestinians; it is a direct contradiction of Jewish values and of the vision set out in Israel's Declaration of Independence. We support a liberal, democratic State of Israel, as envisaged in that Declaration, with equal rights for all its citizens. Settlement expansion, settler violence and annexation make a negotiated two-state solution harder to achieve and damage Israel's future as both a Jewish and democratic state. Targeted sanctions against those responsible for violence are therefore justified. We also recognise that the government's updated guidance to UK businesses relates to settlements, not to Israel itself. That distinction matters. We would be concerned if the guidance were interpreted as support for the wider Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions platform. We do not support BDS. We do not believe that broad economic, academic or cultural boycotts of Israel bring peace any closer. Nor should settlements and Israel be treated as though they are one and the same. Some of the strongest voices for democracy, equality and a political resolution to the conflict are found within Israeli society itself. They should be engaged with, not isolated. Action against settler violence is necessary. Broad boycotts of Israel are not. Keeping that distinction clear is in the interests of Israelis, Palestinians and all those committed to a peaceful resolution of the conflict.”
Stop wars of attempted regime change. Start to detach Palestinians from supporting extremist organisations by persuading the Trump administration to use its influence to stop the appalling ethnic cleansing in the West Bank and the utter destruction of Gaza.
It is good news it has been referred to the Charity Commission HOWEVER I remain concerned that the Commission has the capacity/wherewithal to deal with these matters with the thoroughness and speed required.
Foreign Secretary confirms: “I have also written today to the Charity Commission for England and Wales, requesting that it open an investigation into evidence of UK charities having links to illegal settlements. The Minister for the Middle East, my hon. Friend the Member for Lincoln (Mr Falconer), will meet the commission’s chief executive officer tomorrow, because no UK charity should be supporting or enabling these breaches of international law.”
A child’s first 1001 days - pregnancy to age two, are critical in laying their life’s foundations.
Winning the PMB was an enormous privilege. I want to unite Parliament around a world-first Bill to recognise this, and enshrine support for the 1001 critical days in law.
