A new arrival at Heaps Cottage Equine Clinic today as retired Police Horse Hexam has joined us.
He will be an integral part of the team as he has been at Greater Manchester Police for the last 14 years. He has been one of the lead horses at GMP! Welcome to our team, Hexam!!

The Fireworks are in full swing. Many of our horses can cope with them especially with a loud radio to drown out the noise but some can get very upset.
Hopefully this will die down soon but many of us will need to support our horses, dogs, cats & small furry friends.Stay safe!

Day 2 is orthopaedics again.
The usual stimulating lectures by speakers from all over the world.
All our vets are attending for two days each to ensure we are at the cutting edge of vet science

We are always trying to improve our service to clients so we hope our new offer of Hack the Track can add a little bit of enjoyment to your vet appointments.
Our track has no public access so there are no distractions apart from our resident deer, owls, herons and buzzards.

Alper & Simon are shown removing both ovaries because of the concern that the ovaries could be both affected by Granilosa Cell Tumour (GCT).
This mare has done brilliantly following the surgery- only three weeks ago- & tolerated this invasive surgery extremely well!

Years ago ovary removal was dangerous because of huge blood supply & difficulty in gaining access so deep into the abdomen but laparoscopic techniques have solved these problems.
