An early 12th century service book was re-used and inadvertently saved when a paper valuation of the monastery's property at the time of the dissolution in 1540-1541 was protected by using a few folios of the old manuscript. (WCM C871)
A letter from King Charles I in 1642 to the newly promoted Bishop of Worcester ordering him to give up his canon's place at Christchurch Oxford and the rectory of Ewelme, because the King has someone else to take over as reader of divinity at Oxford (WCM D21).
