And of course the ticking time bomb...HALF (45%) of all publicly employed teachers in SA will retire in the next 10 years. Meaning universities need to produce 44,000 teachers/year by 2025 (in 2018 it was 26,000). Currently no one knows how 👀https://t.co/ccRomNgMvS
Those early days of EC2 were wild... glad we're sharing the backstory about our roots in South Africa. Now the world’s largest compute service makes near-infinite computing power available to anyone: https://t.co/hqdyBP5qEZ
People often use Lambda School as a poster child for using nocode tools; we used (and use) a lot, which lets everyone (including nontechnical ppl) ship very quickly. Great!
BUT
If nocode changes affect your data model, you’re creating outrageous amounts of technical debt.
@nicharry To continue to grow in organisations, it’s not necessarily enough to be making an impact and be performing well. You also need to manage others (ie Leadership, stakeholders) perception of your work. Others can’t always see or understand the impact and trade-offs you’re making.
@Sajeezy I’ve put off replying for a couple days, but here I am 😂 I think if you’re procrastinating on important things then it’s a problem (https://t.co/DoqJAGjvOM), if you’re procrastinating on non-important things it’s feedback
Just finished “Failing to Win” by @mikepquinn. It’s a compelling read where I found myself rooting for the company even though I knew the end result. A lot of insights into customer-focus, strategy and investor management. Highly recommend 💯
@Sajeezy Thoughts while reading: You can either hire for it or develop it (in yourself and others). Also, feels so linked to agency (https://t.co/4hPDyZ7To0)
Let’s talk about High Agency: an attitude I’ve seen in every successful product manager & leader I’ve known.
Some ppl are born/raised with High Agency. It can also be developed later in life.
High agency is a prerequisite for making a profound impact in one's life & work

We've just done our daily update of the @OurWorldInData COVID vaccination data: https://t.co/7lOyDamxxx
28% of the world population have now received at least one dose of a vaccine.
In Africa only 3.5%.
Europe just overtook North America and is now getting close to 50%.
@aLfriendo@_ubsta It'll always be hard to know from the outside, but based on some of the content I've seen it's become an increasing focus. Or at least articulating the stories has become an increasing focus.
