I believe I represent the resilient Plateau spirit.
I represent the spirit of a people who, despite countless challenges, refused to surrender their ancestral heritage, their identity, and their faith in a better tomorrow. Plateau has endured difficult seasons, yet our people have consistently demonstrated courage, dignity, and an uncommon determination to rise above adversity.
My aspiration was never built on the illusion of personal ambition mainly. Rather, it was built on the conviction that our youths deserve sustained hope, that our parents deserve reassurance that their sacrifices have not been in vain, and that our communities deserve leadership that inspires confidence in the future.
Throughout my journey, from my student days to this moment, I have never been one to bow before intimidation, influence, or power simply because it appeared formidable. Despite my background and circumstances, I learned early in life to stand firmly for what I believe is right, regardless of who stands on the other side.
That conviction has guided me throughout my life, and it still guides me till today.
The question was never whether I was contesting against an incumbent. The real question was whether the dreams, aspirations, and collective yearnings of the Plateau people deserved a voice. I believed then, and I still believe now, that they do.
History teaches us that much of progress in most of human endeavor is often driven by men and women who dare to challenge established assumptions and who refuse to accept that the future must always look like the past. Every meaningful transformation begins with the courage to believe that something better is possible.
Therefore, I do not see this journey merely as a contest of political strength. I see it as a testament to the enduring spirit of Plateau people, a people who refuse to give up, who continue to hope, and who remain determined to build a state where every citizen can thrive.
Let us not give up on Plateau.
Let us continue to believe in her possibilities, invest in her future, and work together to restore her greatness. The Plateau spirit is stronger than any obstacle, and as long as that spirit remains alive in our people, hope will never be defeated.
For those who asked and may ask again. For those who don’t know but may wish to know.
CHIEF KEFAS WUNGAK AND THE BARC FARM SAGA
My heart bleeds hearing Chief Kefas Wungak’s post about the deprivation of access to the farm at Barc Farm.
I am speaking from firsthand experience. I have been on that farm from day one till date, and the facts cannot be denied.
The Investment
The level of investment on that farm is massive. Over ₦12 million was spent on bush clearing alone. Four boreholes were drilled on the farm. Solar systems and surveillance cameras were installed for security. Four motorcycles were purchased for indigenous supervisors to ease movement and operations. This is not just farming — it is infrastructure and job creation.
The Humanitarian Impact
The humanitarian impact can never be overemphasized. I have watched 10-year-old boys plant maize and go home with ₦30,000 a day. I have watched women work on that farm and return home with ₦50,000 a day. That is dignity. That is food on tables. That is school fees paid.
After harvest, Chief Kefas brought over 100 bags of rice and shared them to residents of the community. He also got the estimate for the renovation of the community secondary school. That is leadership with compassion.
Some women spoke to me personally and confirmed that they escaped hunger this year because Chief Kefas entered their community.
Plateau, let us wake up to reality. We cannot destroy what is feeding our people. We cannot deny access to a farm that is creating wealth, security, and hope for our communities.
Barc Farm is not just Chief Kefas’ farm. It is a lifeline for hundreds of families.
Let truth prevail. Let progress continue.

Getting a replacement go hard o. We have never had this kind of representative in the history of Plateau state. @yusufgagdi is so exceptional at this legislative Business.

We claimed to have influence over the politics on the Plateau yet blood and tears persist amidst bad governance. Should we then be held accountable for souls lost, promises unkept as well as loss of jobs? We bragged about our influence on spaces yet hypocritically run back “Rage-Baiting” on the need for help on the Plateau. May we never use the sorrows of our people to farm engagement and look for gigs. We all will account for our roles, silent or otherwise as well as our nuisances on social media spaces.
@yjbida This is the sad reality of us on the plateau season in season out, I wonder when we'll get it right ?😢 We need a leader, Plateau people are being killed and displaced every single day.
Governance is beyond sweet talking and speaking English, is it about leading right.
