The blood of Christ is of infinite worth, but it was not poured out as an uncertain payment with an uncertain result.

The cross was not God making salvation merely possible and then waiting to see who would make it effective. Christ came with a definite mission, for a definite people, with a definite victory. He said, “I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep” (John 10:11). Not for a nameless crowd that may or may not be saved, but for His sheep.

This is the language of Scripture. He loved the church and gave Himself up for her (Ephesians 5:25). He came to save His people from their sins (Matthew 1:21). He gave His life as a ransom for many (Mark 10:45). His death did not merely open a door and leave salvation hanging in the air. His death actually purchased, cleansed, reconciled, and secured those given to Him by the Father.

“All that the Father gives Me will come to Me” (John 6:37).

That word will matters. Christ did not say they might come if their dead hearts cooperate. He said they will come. The Father gives. The Son receives. The Spirit gives life. The sinner comes because grace has conquered him.

If Christ truly bore the wrath of God for a person, then that person cannot finally perish under the same wrath. God does not demand payment twice. The cross is not a failed transaction. It is finished justice, finished mercy, and finished redemption.

“He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities” (Isaiah 53:5).

Hebrews is clear. “For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified” (Hebrews 10:14). Not tried to perfect. Not hoped to perfect. He has perfected those who are sanctified.

This does not weaken the gospel call. We preach Christ freely to all. Every sinner who comes to Him will be received. But the power of the atonement rests not in man’s decision, but in Christ’s finished work.

The atonement is not vague. It is not wasted. It is not helpless until man activates it. Christ did not die to make redemption a possibility. He died to redeem.

Christ did not attempt salvation.

He accomplished it.

The child in the womb, though hidden from human eyes, is already a human life before God. The womb does not make the child less human. It only makes the child more helpless.

Scripture never speaks of the unborn as a thing, a possibility, or a disposable piece of flesh. David says, “You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb” (Psalm 139:13). Before a mother holds the child in her arms, God has already formed that child in secret.

That is why abortion is not merely a social issue, political issue, or medical issue. It is a moral issue before the living God. To rob the unborn child of life is to destroy one who bears the image of God, one whom God Himself is forming.

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you” (Jeremiah 1:5).

The world may change its language to soften the horror, but God is not confused by our vocabulary. What is hidden in the womb is not hidden from Him. The weakest human life is still human life, and innocent blood still cries before God.

“You shall not murder” (Exodus 20:13).

A society that treats the womb as a place where life may be destroyed has not become compassionate. It has become blind. True justice protects the most helpless, not the most convenient.

Every child in the womb is known by God, formed by God, and accountable to the God who gives life. To take that life is not mercy. It is a grievous sin.

But even here, the gospel must be spoken clearly. There is mercy in Christ for those who have sinned deeply, including this sin. The same cross that exposes guilt also offers forgiveness to all who repent and come to Christ.

“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses” (Ephesians 1:7).

The world watched our great POTUS @realDonaldTrump say we're going to be taking over Cuba. What the world doesn't understand is that we're NOT taking over Cuba, from Cuba. We are freeing the citizens of these severely oppressed nations. They'll finally have a chance to thrive. They'll finally be able to hold legitimate political debates and elect their own governments. Prosperity and poverty are not reliable indicators of God’s favour or disfavour.

Scripture breaks that assumption. “He makes His sun rise on the evil and the good” (Matthew 5:45). Outward conditions are not the measure of God’s heart toward us.

If we read circumstances as proof of blessing or rejection, we will misjudge both God and ourselves. The rich man may be far from Him, and the suffering believer may be deeply held by Him. “We brought nothing into the world… if we have food and covering, with these we shall be content” (1 Timothy 6:7-8).

Our anchor is not what we have or lack, but what God has promised in the gospel. “Having been justified by faith, we have peace with God” (Romans 5:1).

That does not change with gain or loss, comfort or hardship.

So we do not read God’s favour in our circumstances. We read it at the cross.

And that is the only anchor that holds.
