We hear stories like this all the time. And these are the patients with someone fighting for them. Imagine how many fall through the cracks because they have no one. We donโt even hear their stories.
My husband had a biopsy for cancer and no call with results. After 2 wks passed I called the doctor's office and was put on a long hold. Another doctor got on the phone and said, "Somebody should have called you. Your doctor is on vacation but I didn't want you to have to wait any longer so I'll tell you: it's cancer."
I say, "Okay what's the next step?"
He says, "Well I'm not his doctor but we don't treat that."
I say, "Okay, can you refer me to someone who can help us figure out what steps are next?"
He says, "You just have to get on the phone. Try calling Mayo."
I say, "Can you post the results to the portal because I know anybody I call will ask and want to see the pathology?"
He says, "Just write this down. Do you have a pen? Squamous cell inside the nose."
I say, "Ok but when do you think you can have that posted to the portal or email me," (knowing that nobody will see my husband without that report).
He says, "I told you what it is, that's all you need."
I hang up. I call Mayo. They say, "We can't talk about it until you send the pathology report." I try to explain I don't have it yet but I know what it is. Anyway, they say, they are on a waiting list that's so long they aren't even taking new names. Call back in 6 months and see if they're taking names again.
This was the beginning, and typical of the next 4 years in our health system.
I know you all have similar stories. I wish we could solve these problems for all!
How to not be stressed at an objectively stressful job:
Do the right thing every day, work very hard and believe itโs going to work out no matter what.
Exercise in cancer >> spending billions on a drug which adds 2 months to survival.
But one of the things Iโm least convinced AI can solve alone is getting people to do it consistently. We include an exercise plan in every treatment plan at Radical. The info is great, but it's a human motivation problem, and studies like this help.
Exercise and remission from cancer: A randomized trial found 37% improved survival, 28% disease-free survival. But little is being done to incorporate in practice except @UPMC 1st health system covering "exercise oncology" program.

I will never understand why asking for a second medical opinion is sometimes treated like an insult. If the decision matters that much, getting another opinion should be encouraged.
Been thinking about the most entertaining punishment for Man City. Itโs a delicate balance. You donโt want to destroy the team completely. You want to prolong the suffering so everyone can enjoy it

Today, I'm proud to introduce Fo to give personal AI something no lab ever has... Humans.
Other personal AI's pretend AI can do everything. Fo employs humans to do tasks that AI cannot.
- 2x better at real-world task completion (beats other agents by 69%)

I got to meet Bill Gates, and we actually connected over a book.
Heโs a huge fan of one of my favorites, The Inner Game of Tennis by Timothy Gallaway. Even though the book is framed around tennis, Iโd recommend to anyone building a startup.
Muse, your personal agent, now has voice and real-time video. You can have long conversations and Muse will work in the background and get things done for you as you're talking. We're also bringing Muse to glasses so you can talk hands-free throughout the day.
Many of our recent hires at Radical Health have chosen not to pursue the traditional clinical path, not because of corporate greed, but because they want to have an even greater impact.
To whom it may concern,
63% physicians do not want their children to pursue a career in medicine.
This number is even higher among younger physicians.
Medicine is no longer the noble profession it once was.
Corporate greed poses an existential threat to the practice of medicine.
Warm intros may be easier, but cold emails can be more effective.
Some of the strongest relationships Iโve built started as strangers. That person gets to โdiscoverโ you, which is a valuable feeling in Silicon Valley.
I said to myself that if I did the Santa Cruz 70.3 Ironman in under 6 hours, I would sign up for a full.
I did it in 5:56:57.
Time to get back to training???
