i'm gonna strongly and respectfully disagree- okay yes, the prank is dumb aand it's the highest form of torture to watch bts rapping door to door through LA BUT there's a reason i really think AHL was needed.

before AHL, bts were rappers who definitely wanted to understand and respect the genre, but when you come from a mono-ethnic country, your information and experience is gonna be extremely limited.

rap is a black american art, and in order to truly respect the genre for its very deep cultural history, you need more exposure to black american culture than music videos and movies. bts worked with some really important and influential names in hip hop, and honestly they were humbled and educated. they were the only idol group who spent time genuinely learning and this was crucial to their growth as hip hop artists borrowing a culture they did not create.

i think it was very good they spent time in LA, surrounded by a diverse people who showed them the real history and importance of rap.
