@Pat_on_the_Mat@girlziplocked And if you’re in the arts, design or music field, there’s portfolio requirements — a website isn’t enough sometimes because it may be too broad of a work scope and recruiters have hundreds to look through. You have to include a curated portfolio with each application.
@madmadvalentine “one person’s suffering doesn’t take away from another’s” 🎯 you hit the nail on the head. Glad to hear your dad is much more understanding. Validation is a powerful tool when trying to help someone understand your perspective.
@d_la_reina This is based from observations from many conversations with folks older than me. People don’t respond well when they think their efforts are being devalued. I have a lot of respect for the challenges of their time, esp before the age of the internet, but it simply isn’t the same
@d_la_reina I genuinely believe so many boomers and gen x’s are slow to accept the challenges of today’s economy bc it forces them to reframe their experiences as being “easier,” as if they never had to work hard to make a living. We’re not saying that — it’s just simply harder these days.
@LeaderGrev This has happened to me, too. They’ll claim that they’re using a business account with a minimum transaction rate of like, $500, then they’d “send” over the money (which would be “confirmed” in an email), and ask for a refund on however much you’d “owe” them in change.
