Tonight @RachelReevesMP makes her Mansion House speech.
Ahead of this, we have signed a letter with @NTSscamsteam, Consumer Protection APPG, @CTSI_UK, and @simonfell, the former UK Anti-Fraud Champion.
We all want growth, but we also want fraud protection to not be watered down
Delighted to have the support of 20 former colleagues, who lost their seats at the election and believe in delivering a positive vision for the future.
I will win back voters from Labour, the Liberal Democrats and Reform.
We have forced a vote in Parliament next week to stop Labour’s cut to Winter Fuel Payments.
It’s our first big opportunity to stop Labour from depriving millions of pensioners vital support this winter.
Live from 12 on X
I will be delivering the first major speech of my campaign to be leader of the Conservative Party

We must unite the party, inspire our membership and motivate our activists.
So we can win at the ballot box, at every level of government, and deliver for the British people 🇬🇧
If I’m elected leader, that’s what I’ll do👇

My congratulations to Michelle on her victory in Barrow & Furness. She’s now inherited the best job in the North, and I wish her well in it.
I’m hugely disappointed to have not got over the line. I would have dearly loved to continue to serve this amazing community, and to see some of the projects which we have launched, from Team Barrow through to our new university campus, and the campaign for Royal Town status, to have been realised. But it wasn’t to be, and you can’t only love democracy when you’re on the winning side.
Thank you to everyone across Barrow & Furness who lent me your votes and put your faith in me. To everyone who has worked with me to improve this community bit by bit over the last few years. To my amazing team, who have helped thousands of people and gone the extra mile time and again. And to those friends and supporters who committed days of time and immense amounts of shoe leather in campaigning with me. You’ve all been brilliant, and I’ll never be able to adequately thank you enough.
It hasn’t always been a pleasure, but it has been an absolute honour. Thank you so much for the opportunity you gave me these last 4 1/2 years to represent you.

28k walked, hundreds of doors knocked on, and thousands of leaflets delivered.
Polling day is exhausting, but so wonderful with it. And look at this amazing team!
Thank you so much to all my wonderful helpers who have been out and about out with me across the whole of Barrow & Furness today as we fought for every vote.
But most of all, thank you to everyone who spoke to us and said hello. Whether you lent me your vote or not, thank you for engaging and voting.
And if you haven’t voted yet, there’s still an hour to do so. Please do (and do consider voting for me while you’re there!).
🗳️
Well, that’s 2 votes at least.
Happy polling day, folks. Polls are open until 10pm today. No matter who you vote for, please do vote. And don’t forget your ID.
🗳️
Nothing like an 8k before breakfast 😮💨
Huge thanks to my brilliant teams who fanned out across the whole of Barrow & Furness this morning to help get some leaflets out 🗳️
Polls are now open across Barrow & Furness!
You can vote between 7am & 10pm. Don’t forget your ID!
No matter who you vote for, please do vote.
But I do hope that you will consider backing me, so that I can continue to fight for you, no matter who forms the next Government.
Polls open in less than 24 hours. We politicians will stop tormenting you soon.
No matter who you vote for, please do vote (although I hope you’ll consider voting for me!).
These last few years we’ve achieved so much together in Barrow & Furness - not least with record investment coming into the community, the shipyard secured, big projects like Grizebeck and the university campus funded, Team Barrow launched, step free access in Ulverston, and so very much more (see https://t.co/6t3tDErt6K). But there’s also lots more to do, and I don’t want to see any of the progress that we’ve made put at risk.
So I hope that you’ll consider lending me your vote tomorrow. I’ve fought for this fantastic community over these last few years, and want to continue doing so, no matter the outcome of the national election. I hope I’ve shown that I’m proven, honest, and have fought and delivered for this community. Barrow & Furness will need a proven advocate in the years ahead.
Please vote for Simon Fell tomorrow.
I’ve campaigned for better funding for local public services, worked to protect SMEs, and made the case for local investment into Furness. If you want to know more about my plan to keep delivering visit: https://t.co/WgiuEXD8iD
I’m delighted to have the support of my friend @BenWallace70 at this election.
Ben was an excellent Defence Secretary and a champion of Barrow and the submarine programme. It was under his watch that the AUKUS pact was signed, and the next generation of work in the shipyard secured. And it was AUKUS that enabled the creation of Team Barrow and the £220million we have secured for Furness’ future.
Thank you, Ben.
Local sports provision is essential to our wellbeing and I have worked hard to improve our provision. I have campaigned to get our libraries re-opened and lobbied hard to secure Community Ownership Funding for The Roxy and Cooke’s Studios. Learn more: https://t.co/WgiuEXD8iD
Cumbria could be the heart of UK energy generation. For 4½ years I have campaigned for our new nuclear and renewable energy. Working closely with constituents, I opposed development at Roanhead and backed legislation to hit polluters hard. Find out more: https://t.co/WgiuEXD8iD
Working together we have secured more police officers, more CCTV, and action on rural crime and ASB. And I have worked hard to restore pride in our community - from pocket parks to Royal Barrow. See my plan to keep delivering for Furness here: https://t.co/WgiuEXD8iD
Over the last few years, we've achieved so much together. We've brought record investment to Barrow & Furness, started to turn around the high street, seen our new university campus being built, and so much more.
And despite all the challenges and frustrations in Westminster I've put my head down and got on with the job.
So I want to make a contract with you - if you lend me your vote on 4 July, I will never stop working for you. Just as I have these last few years, I will put this community first.
So on 4 July, please lend me your vote so we can keep up the progress we've made and not put it at risk.
A lovely ceremony at the memorial in Ulverston this morning to mark Armed Forces Day - an opportunity to show our support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community, from those currently serving to service families, cadets and veterans.
A thank you to each and every one for the service and sacrifice they have made to defend the UK and its interests.
