@TLRailUK Help! We left a backpack on the train at Brighton (front carriage) with important medicines in it! Train was from Farringdon and arrived around 3:50pm. Can you help?
@juliathrift Oh, Mr Tibbs looks very regal. And what a tail! J has wanted a cat ever since we met, but my allergies prevented it. I've been getting immunotherapy shots, though, which seem to be working so J is very, very happy. Hope you are all doing well and Happy New Year!

I shed many tears while typing up these heart-wrenching text messages sent and received by UNC students yesterday. Our campus was on lockdown for more than three hours.

It may be that when we no longer know what to do
we have come to our real work,

This was one of the most incredible wildlife encounters I’ve ever had — seen while tidepooling on the Northern California coast. (Also please enjoy the look of sheer terror on my friend 😅)
@dmitchinson@DinaKupfer@NWSSacramento Speaking of birds, we saw them out our "window" this morning! Most notably taking off out of the Santa Cruz Mountains, Napa County, and the Monterey Bay area.
@juliathrift Glad you got it! And yes, it would be really good to catch up. Not sure about our travel plans this year, but if we're staying in London for any length of time, I'll let you know! Hope you and the family are doing well.
@paulg But did TV news actually play much of a role in establishing college reputations when you were a kid? Didn't they emerge from a soft confection of family, teacher, and peer impressions, none of which were especially well informed - sort of like now?
@888Lioness Cool! We were driving in the same direction, but on Oregon Expressway, so we didn't have quite as good a view, but it was a good few seconds. I'd have thought it was a plane but the angle was too steep and the speed too fast. Hope you made a wish!
@888Lioness Yes, we saw it driving towards the East Bay from Palo Alto. Definitely seemed like a meteor. Just came on here to see if anyone else did and yours seems to be the only tweet about it so far. But it was very bright.
Bletchley Park was run by historians (Hinsley, Briggs), classicists (Knox, Adcock), musicologists, papyrologists, pure mathematicians (Turing, of course) — people whose degrees would fail Sunak’s test, yet who did more for this country than any number of well-paid City analysts
