Here's a snippet of the gorgeous theme tune from the 1993 Steven Spielberg film, Schindler's List. The music was originally written for one of my all-time violin heros, Itzhak Perlman.
This was recorded at a show I did with Cambridge Philharmonic earlier this year. 🎻🎶
@SamEastmond@miltonline And future generations get shut off from developing crucial creative skills (and/or become dependent on external financing in order to do so)
@SamEastmond@miltonline@SamEastmond exactly this - if the grey areas where creativity evolves become financially unsustainable (because they’re being replaced by cheaper AI options), then everything becomes more derivative.
All this neuroticism (& euphoria) about AI’s grand replacement of human musicians reveals a common fallacy about music in general.
That it is a passive object to be consumed and not a valuable human activity to be experienced.
After all, taking a car ride between seaside towns does not diminish the value of a coastal walk, watching the sun rise over a twinkling sea.

@maitlis thank you so much for your brilliant book! Airhead was a joy to read - sparklingly written, and full of wonderful stories and insights. I learnt a lot! :)
Will be interesting to see the impact of this. Music metadata has been a problem for 'classical' genres for a long time. Maybe this could be a substantial step towards solving those issues #appleclassical#AppleClassicalMusic
