Is Digital ID a dead cat?

This week new material emerged about Labour Together and almost £740,000 in undeclared donations from 2017 to 2020.

The group was fined in 2021 for multiple breaches.

Leaked emails from that same year show a lawyer advising the breaches should be brushed off as an “admin error”. At the time, Labour Together was run by Morgan McSweeney, who also helped steer Keir Starmer’s 2020 leadership bid.

Now the Conservatives have referred the matter to the standards commissioner and are pressing for a police inquiry.

And right on cue, we suddenly get the announcement of Digital ID for every adult, dressed up as a fix for illegal migration.

The timing stinks.

Answer the donations scandal before you tag every citizen.
