@bryanleeomalley Thought you might want to know that Universal completely botched this. Video suffers from poor compression and artifacts whilst the EN audio is missing the LFE channel completely, as well as the other channels being completely neutered. Really didn’t deserve this. @bdgrabinski
@MVM_UK Hi. Are you able to confirm whether your release of Lycoris Recoil is BD or DVD sized? The current packshot suggests it mirrors the Aniplex release which was DVD size, so would appreciate the clarification. Thanks.
There's also the incredibly poorly done upscaling, heavy handed DNR, detail loss and poor audio work on the original three episodes that's given us a presentation far worse than what was released 15 years ago. Now I get why the BBC included that original 2009 Blu-ray too.
@aardman The new Wallace & Gromit UHD is an utter disgrace to your legacy, and every single person who worked on each project. How you can ok 'new 4K masters' that utilise AI upscaling to nuke detail, mangle text and warp the original craftmanship is shocking.
@Schmullus1@mediablasters1 Good lord, that would drive me absolutely crazy. I think anyone who cares about or is remotely sensitive to video/audio issues would be unable to enjoy this.
@7Ten Do you know where I can find another Taiko cab in London? The drums on the Wadaiko cab running Green Version at LV are in miserable condition, and have been on both my visits 4 months apart. Ideally looking for the same version, or Nijiiro if someone somehow got hold of one 👀
@liceas@Schmullus1 Perhaps it's a silly question, but could one not simply just re-record the dub with the same cast if it's going to end up cheaper, or would the new dub situation assume either/both non union and non exclusivity contracts being in place?
@professoewho42@aniplexUSA This is hands down the fucking stupidest thing I've ever seen you do. How about you just create a new video encode and author new discs with both languages on the same disc? The consumer is absolutely paying a premium for their incompetence too as that's 4x BD100s.
@NLScavenger@HIDIVEofficial Yeah, I probably should've clarified and put ffmpeg encoded audio. Forgot about Funi's brief audio mishap, but apparently CR did it very briefly too. iirc Wakanim also used to use 128kbps ffmpeg encoded audio (and higher bitrate 320k for DTO) and they were both pretty bad too.
So it turns out @HIDIVEofficial has *actually* changed their encodes, however this is not a good ending. They've gone from 1-2mbps average to 5mbps average, however the encoding settings are worse, so you're getting video that's regularly much worse than before at 2-3x the size.
@HIDIVEofficial That's neat and all, but how about you actually invest in your video encodes and file sizes rather than offering video quality that's an actual joke for a paid service? I'll *never* pay for HiDive in the state it currently is.
@HIDIVEofficial Also worth mentioning that CR switched to 128kbps ffmpeg audio once in the past and quickly reverted the change due to how bad the results were.
@HIDIVEofficial video is now also incorrectly encoded at 24.00fps rather than 23.976, and to top things off, they have *also* downgraded their audio to 128kbps ffmpeg audio. So every 'upgrade' they've provided to the service is in every way actually a relatively large downgrade.

@c2c_Rail I have been overcharged by £20 across three days of travel into Fenchurch Street since last Thursday. What on earth is going on with your gates??? I better not see another charge tomorrow for £18.80 again.
@discotekmedia@MediaOCD For proof of that, look no further than the *video* of the Lovely Complex BD! Usually upscales like these suffer from obvious shimmering or interlacing issues, yet the restoration work done here seems to be remarkably clean and stable. Truly some impressive stuff.
Apparently there's drama surrounding the Lovely Complex dub script, but I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned how sloppy certain aspects of the audio are on that release.
For clarity - the intent of this thread isn't to rag on @discotekmedia or the @MediaOCD guys as they're amazingly talented people doing everything with the best intent in mind, and they rightfully have a reputation for care and quality which I don't want to see go away.
