@JohnNejady At the lowest LOD, the cars are sprites and the far away scenery collapses into imposters/nailboards. Instancing trickery for nearby cars. ISTR high LOD buildings were a 2nd vertex stream of 'detailed bits' on top of the next LOD down to allow just a shader switch
@JohnNejady Cool. Those videos always remind me of the interesting challenges developing the graphics engine for DSF: We want to see the whole city from the sky, with lots of cars driving around, no big occluders up there to hide stuff, all streamed from a DVD, at 60Hz ๐
@nice_byte AO tells you the concave bits where dust will 'gather', so I'd probably start there for a light base coating of dust. For the bigger blobs of dust, perhaps a copy of the mesh tessellated and displaced, or particles. The lighting of the dust is very diffuse which may yield tricks.
