HE Uhuru aliacha SGR first class ikiwa 3,000, Ruto increased it to 4,500 to get more money but I'm told the unintended consequence is that people have decided not to use the SGR.

Simple maths.

SGR has two first class coaches with a capacity of 144 passengers. On a typical day, the coaches would do 70% which translates to about 100 passengers and would make 300,000.

After the increase, the SGR can hardly do 30% which translates to 43 passengers and the total earnings 193,500.

Instead of the government making more from the SGR, the revenue has dropped by 106,500. Soon you will hear them saying that it's unsustainable to manage the SGR due to lack of finances yet they are the ones killing it.
