Excited that @myfuturesuper's investment returns for the yr to Jun30 are out! All three beat the top performing funds in their category. Our Index option was+5.52%, next best +3.8% (source Chant West & SuperRatings)! *Past returns not reliable indicator of future performance*
@NickMcKim In the past I had leaders in the climate movement telling me we needed to be patient. Instead at GetUp we often pulled the trigger on mass protests. Each got huge turn outs & interest from the govt. Feels like we forgot that we still have an enemy in the fossil fuel industry.
Hopefully the platform that Senator Thorpe has will embarrass state governments and others into action. So many basic things to move on right away. No reason to wait for voice to get moving on these things.
@Peter_Fitz@Milliganreports Let’s hope local schools step up to help kids have as smooth an exit as possible as they leave. A friend of mine was so close to enrolling his daughter last year. Grateful that it didn’t work out!
I have no words to express my deep sadness for the loss of Will Steffen who passed away last night. He had been one of the most influential individuals in global change science programs, director of GCTE, IGBP, and driver of ESSP that led to the creation of the @gcarbonproject
Opus Dei has deep roots that go beyond NSW. When I was running for the ACT Senate our team discovered the connections into the most senior members of the conservative Canberra Liberals. We chose not to make this public given the impact on the families involved.
September quarter energy market results are out. Great summary from @GilesParkinson
Tl;dr renewables grew a lot, high gas and coal input costs drove prices up. https://t.co/wh9JLIc6ki
@AntonyGreenElec Enjoying your updates! I’ve noticed nobody speaking about Bradfield. Is the independent there a chance? Seems to have at least done well enough to be an interesting story.
Just tuned in to @SkyNewsAust for the latest shouting match. Incredible. Bronwyn Bishop is arguing that Libs should try to steal elections in the future by changing the system and throwing out preferential voting. It’s like the US republicans - if we can’t win, rig the rules.
Thank goodness for some sense from @abccanberra tv tonight. Finally saying what was obvious last night. @pocockdavid can’t lose from here. Far too many progressive preference flows. The Canberra Liberals have to return back to a more progressive future as they rebuild.
It’s not getting much coverage but we’ve got a huge right wing vote in the northern rivers that could mean prefs flow to the discredited local Nats candidate pushing them above the ALP, leading to Labor preferences electing @mandy_4richmond and giving the Greens another seat.
This would have been the perfect moment for @HonJulieBishop if she was in the Parliament. She would have been the perfect leader to rebuild the modern Liberal party. Perhaps they need to draft her back!
