Thanks @loafhome, really great to see that you’re doing your largest ever sale discount after I’d already placed a large order with you (but 1 day too early to get your sale price match). Really great way to treat customers, that £75 credit really makes up for the £850 loss

The end to end experience of a product / brand is so important. With Apple it starts even with the brown cardboard shipping box, how we extend this to digital products really interests me

[Stephanie Wong @stephr_wong]

There’s gotta be a whole material engineering team behind this 100% satisfying @apple unboxing feeling, sound, and resistance right? 🤤

I'm flying in Dulles next month. First time in the US in ages, and I was expecting some form of queue at the border, but not 90+ minutes, that's insane

[Ryan Bourne @MrRBourne]

NEW OP-ED BY ME for @dcexaminer:

Dulles airport passport control is a national embarrassment.

[Sam Bowman @s8mb]

I'd love this. Long flight times are one of the big areas in my life where it feels like we've just stopped advancing since the 1960s.

This is bother written so accessibly and has such interesting conclusions, everyone should read it

[Robert Ford @robfordmancs]

This is awesome - give it a read! I wish more research was written up like this! Academic journals might get read more then.

[SimonSmethMac @SimonSmethMac]

Super excited to try this out come 2025. Direct flights to Sydney will be a game changer for short trips

[Vicki Treadell @VickiTreadell]

Great news in more ways than one:
- new non-stop ✈️ option from @SydneyAirport to @londonheathrow & vice versa
- more 🇦🇺 & 🇬🇧 business travellers & tourists each way
- great for 🇬🇧 manufacturing with @RollsRoyce aero-engines, wings by @AirbusintheUK & more including avionics

Best Font for Online Reading
"Among high-legibility fonts, a study found 35% difference in reading speeds between the best and the worst. People read 11% slower for every 20 years they age."

Spoiler : Garamond had the highest average reading speed 🥰

@DanTor91 Of course they could pay a lot less with a certain off the shelf yet customisable product.....

[SimonSmethMac @SimonSmethMac]

@DanielKorski @SlackHQ @basecamp @discourse @WazokuHq Introducing a workflow system into a central government dept would require 15 project managers, 30 design architects and a multi million pound budget for a bespoke build. The idea that teams could automate their own biz processes with off the shelf is a long way off

Even if your clients don’t eventually buy through g-cloud a lot start their search there

[Daniel Korski @DanielKorski]

If you’re a startup wanting to sell digital solutions to the UK public sector then don’t miss the deadlines for G-Cloud 13. It’s a key avenue for suppliers. 👇👇👇👇 https://t.co/86cjtMktzg

Here's another story from the trenches of the internet. Last month, a fire in a rural area of South Carolina damaged one of the fiber links that connect Google datacenters (picture below). 100Tbps of capacity lost and restored in 12 hours!🧵

"UK COVID-19 dashboard built using Postgres and Citus for millions of users"

The news of Sir David Amess' death is so sad. We deal with many MPs and their staff every day and they really deserve so much more protection and respect

Some “proper” mathematical physics in this year’s Nobel prize

[Chad Orzel @orzelc]

Most coverage of yesterday's Nobel in Physics talks primarily about climate models, but half of the prize went to more basic physics. If you want to know why, here's my best explanation: https://t.co/JYlzIMDF14

[SimonSmethMac @SimonSmethMac]

@intercom oh and it also turns out that they can tell me how people reached is measured, which they had said they couldn't do before

[SimonSmethMac @SimonSmethMac]

@intercom looks like a great product but their lack of transparency on pricing is so dodgy and unhelpful. You have to "chat with them" and then they tell you they can't give you the price

[SimonSmethMac @SimonSmethMac]

@intercom Then after some more of me saying "just tell me what it costs", I'm told that I have to speak with an account executive. How do I know if it's worth doing that if it's actually priced way too high for my use case?
