Massive Infrastructure Projects in the FCT Set for Official Commissioning by Mr. President
The commissioning of major infrastructure projects across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) under Minister Wike marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s development agenda. Beyond improving transportation, connectivity, and economic activities, these projects will contribute substantially to security by enhancing access for security agencies, reducing response times during emergencies, improving surveillance capabilities, and opening up previously isolated areas that could be exploited by criminal elements.
Modern road networks and supporting infrastructure strengthen governance presence, facilitate intelligence gathering, and promote socio-economic development, all of which are critical components of long-term security and stability in the FCT and surrounding communities.
GOVERNOR ALIA SIGNS BENUE STATE ELECTRICITY BILL INTO LAW
Monday, 08/06/2026
The Executive Governor of Benue State, His Excellency Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has signed the Benue State Electricity Bill into law, describing the legislation as a landmark step towards accelerating economic growth, improving power supply, and creating sustainable development opportunities across the state.
Governor Alia, while assenting to the bill, commended the Benue State House of Assembly for the timely passage of the legislation, noting that the new electricity law would open up the power sector for increased investment, promote competition, enhance consumer protection, and expand access to electricity for underserved communities across the state.
The new law is expected to significantly boost businesses, stimulate industrial growth, create employment opportunities, and improve service delivery in both urban and rural communities. It will also strengthen collaboration between electricity providers and consumers while increasing investor confidence in the state’s energy sector.
The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for investment and sustainable development, stressing that Benue State must continue to embrace policies that deliver measurable progress and long-term benefits for its people. He noted that although the legislation ought to have been enacted years ago, his administration remains determined to break bureaucratic bottlenecks and move the state forward.
Governor Alia further called on citizens to remain ambassadors of positive change and support the administration’s development agenda, adding that despite Benue State’s 50-year history, there is renewed determination under his leadership to build lasting achievements that future generations will be proud of. He assured the people that significant progress has already been made, with more transformative initiatives underway.

The Federal Ministry of Finance has approved the settlement of payments to more than 1,240 contractors working with various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), prioritizing those under ₦100 million.
In a statement issued on Monday, Mary-Ann Duke, Senior Special Assistant on Communication and Press Secretary to the Minister of Finance, explained that the approvals came after a thorough verification and reconciliation process to confirm outstanding obligations to the contractors.
The exercise places priority on verified claims below ₦100 million, as indicated in the official announcement. This initiative aims to address legacy debts, ease cash flow challenges for businesses, and promote greater transparency in government payments.
I have suffered greatly from this. Jobs I did since 2024 haven't been paid. Dear @taiwoyedele Honourable Minister Sir, my money has not been paid when items I supplied since August 2024 are been used till date.

@udemeAkpan01 This sounds nice until you read how many times Isaac had to dig wells before village people left him. The most important thing is being sensitive to God's direction. It may not work for you same way it did for someone else
International media, Al Jazeera, is reporting Operation Hadin Kai latest successful rescue operation. Kudos Maj Gen AE Abubakar and his troops for making the nation proud.
Breaking Good News 🔥🔥🔥🔥
OPERATION HADIN KAI RESCUE 360 NGOSHE ABDUCTEES FROM JAS TERROR-GROUP STRONGHOLD IN THE MANDARA MOUNTAINS
In one of the most significant hostage rescue operations conducted in the North East Theatre in recent times, troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), comprising Special Forces and troops of Sector 1, have successfully rescued 360 abductees from a heavily fortified Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) enclave deep within the Mandara Mountains area of southern Borno State. The operation, which was the culmination of weeks of painstaking intelligence preparation, covert reconnaissance, and operational planning, resulted in the safe recovery of men, women, and children who had been held in captivity under harsh conditions after being abducted from several communities, particularly within the Ngoshe axis. The successful rescue underscores the growing operational reach, intelligence dominance, and tactical superiority of OPHK in denying terrorists freedom of action and protecting vulnerable populations across the theatre.
The operation was initiated following the receipt of credible and corroborated intelligence from multiple sources indicating the precise location of the hostages and the existence of an elaborate insurgent support network sustaining the enclave. OPHK intelligence elements subsequently launched an extensive target development process involving the integration of Human Intelligence (HUMINT), Signals Intelligence (SIGINT), and persistent Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) operations conducted through unmanned aerial systems and long-range reconnaissance patrols. Through sustained intelligence collection and analysis, commanders developed a comprehensive understanding of the terrain, insurgent disposition, defensive arrangements, movement patterns, and the condition of the abductees. This intelligence-driven approach enabled the force to accurately map the objective area, identify vulnerabilities within the terrorist network, and significantly reduce risks to the hostages during the rescue mission.
A decisive breakthrough was achieved through the successful penetration of the terrorist network by carefully cultivated intelligence assets operating under the supervision of OPHK military intelligence personnel. These assets provided timely and actionable intelligence regarding the exact locations of the abductees, the disposition of insurgent commanders, internal security measures, and planned relocation routes. Simultaneously, carefully coordinated information and psychological operations created uncertainty and mistrust within the insurgent ranks, degrading their cohesion and disrupting command and control arrangements. The resulting intelligence advantage provided OPHK with unprecedented situational awareness and enabled commanders to shape the operational environment well before the commencement of the assault phase.
Acting on confirmed intelligence, OPHK Special Forces and troops of Sector 1 launched a meticulously coordinated multi-axis operation designed to isolate the objective area, dominate key terrain, and prevent insurgent reinforcement or withdrawal. Supported by real-time ISR feeds, assault forces infiltrated the objective area under the cover of darkness while blocking forces established positions along likely escape routes. The operation achieved complete tactical surprise, overwhelming the terrorists before an organised response could be mounted. Faced with the speed, precision, and overwhelming combat power of the advancing troops, several insurgents abandoned their positions and fled into surrounding mountainous terrain, while others surrendered. The hostages were swiftly secured, medically screened, and evacuated from the objective area. Regrettably, two infants succumbed to exhaustion occasioned by the extremely challenging mountainous terrain and the hardships endured during their prolonged captivity
Dear @aedc a friend just showed me a refund from you guys and he claims it is a new move to compensate consumers in Abuja who paid for a prepaid meter upfront. I also read @DrJoeAbah share about an increased value of units he recharged. This is commendable and I hope it becomes a new era of consumers getting value for money. Kudos!
Today, I officially flagged off the 2026 Fertilizer and Farm Inputs Sales and Distribution Exercise, and I am pleased to announce that our administration has subsidized fertilizer by 51%, reducing the cost to our farmers to just ₦28,000 per bag.
Lest we forget; beneficiaries of the terrorism Industry to mention just a few.
(1) Recruits scout (2) Recruit trainer (3) Arms supplier (4) Target informant (5) Money changer (6) Ransom Negotiator (7) Ransom collector (8) Food vendor (9) Gadgets supplier (10) Internet installer (11) Vehicle supplier etc. These same Nigerians who join us to shout on social media. How can a govt made of less than 1% of the population (including elected, appointed, civil servants and public servants) safe guard people who are largely complicit in the destruction of their own compatriots? #Ibadan #Kachalla #Nigeria
You speak from a place of ignorance. Let me speak from a place of experience.
I have fought alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) in the North‑East. I have seen them navigate terrains that military GPS could not map. I have watched them lead ambushes, identify hideouts, and save soldiers' lives not because they have better weapons, but because they know the ground.
The Forest Guard initiative is not a replacement for the military. It is a force multiplier.
You ask: "Will 1,000 individuals be effective against terrorists the military has fought for over a decade?"
Yes. Because the military is already effective. The Forest Guards are not substitutes – they are scouts, guides, and local defenders. They know which path leads to a village and which leads to an ambush. They know which farmer is a collaborator and which herder is a spy. That is not training. That is local knowledge and no amount of military drills can replicate it.
You call the Forest Guards "less prepared." But the CJTF started as volunteers with no training and no weapons. Today, they are a critical component of Operation HADIN KAI in the North East. They have paid the supreme price. They have rescued civilians. They have mapped every creek in the Tumbuns, Mandara Mountain and Timbuktu Triangle.
The military remains the best bet. But the military cannot be everywhere at once. It cannot live in every village. It cannot monitor every forest path.
That is where community security forces come in – not to replace soldiers, but to complement them.
If you think the Forest Guards "won't stand a chance," you do not understand asymmetric warfare. The enemy hides among the population. The only way to find them is with the help of the population.
That is not a campaign job. That is a survival strategy.
Let's stop mocking solutions we do not understand.
