in augustine of hippo’s confessions x.27.38 (c. 400), he writes, “late have i loved You, beauty so ancient and so new, late have i loved You” (sero te amavi, pulchritudo tam antiqua et tam nova, sero te amavi), before lamenting that “You were within, but i was outside.”
so this is the case with life. more than half of our fears and anxieties are just made up. God is sufficient for you, so don’t dwell on the past nor anticipate the future too much. live each day as if it’s all you have.
being a pretentious football fan is such low cortisol activity. If your team wins be happy. if it loses who gives a fk about some made up game anyways.
