The Presidential Candidate of our great Party, the NDC, His Excellency, Mr. Peter Obi has donated 15 million to Holy rosary nursing school.
If he can do this as a private citizen, how much more will he achieve when elected President in 2027?
Nigerians, this is your chance.
Not noise. Not propaganda. Not empty promises.
Just distinguished leaders, seasoned professionals, and a shared commitment to a better Nigeria.
Integrity. Competence. Accountability. Service.
Because the future belongs to leaders who inspire hope and deliver results.

The rain seems to be washing away the blood spilled on Nigerian soil.
The earth itself appears to be crying for Nigeria.
We celebrate democracy, yet many still wait to experience its true meaning.
May justice, accountability, and the voice of the people prevail.

DEMOCRACY IS NOT A GIFT, IT IS A RESPONSIBILITY
A message from Opuda (Alabo) Dumo Lulu-Briggs on the occasion of the 2026 Democracy Day.
It is another democracy day when we celebrate the sacrifices of our heroes past in the enthronement and sustenance of democracy in our country.
For us in Rivers State, democracy has in the last 27 years, since 1999, impacted us in different ways. It carried both promise and pain, sometimes in the same election cycle.
But democracy is the only system where the fisherman in Bille, the market woman in Mile 3, the farmer in Emohua and the teacher in Bori has just one vote, one voice and one stake. Democracy is not perfect but it remains the best form of government.
On a day like this, we only need to remind ourselves that power belongs to the people. It is a day to remind us that we own Rivers State together - Ikwerre, Ijaw, Ogoni, Etche, Ogba, Ndoki, Ndoni, Omuma, Abua, Ekpeye etc.
Our founding fathers fought for the creation of this state so that we and our children can live freely, vote without fear, speak without threat, and build without being inhibited.
Today, the disappointments and weariness in our people’s voices are loud and I understand it. My answer, and I hope yours too, is not to walk away but to reclaim what belongs to us.
Our forebears fought for it and we must not trade that inheritance for division. We have the responsibility to protect and preserve our state.
Rivers State sits on enormous wealth. Our waterways, our blue economy, our brilliant and restless young people who deserve better. Democracy becomes real when the right to choose, the right to demand accountability, and the right to know are guaranteed.
On this day, I urge us not to give up but to renew our faith in the unity and progress of Rivers State. We will disagree without violence, we will compete without hate, we will protect our state, its people, its unity, its wealth and its future.
Rivers State shall rise again.
Happy Democracy Day.
God bless Rivers State.
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Yours ceaselessly,
Opuda Alabo Dumo Lulu-Briggs

@NigEducation Could you please elaborate on the measures being taken to rescue the children and teachers who were kidnapped from the school? Additionally, what strategies are being implemented to prevent the recurrence of such incidents?
PRESS STATEMENT
Understanding the Just Concluded NDC Primary Elections:
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), which is the fastest-growing political party in Nigeria, believes in the principles of leadership, consultation, inclusiveness, and consensus-building.
The party operates under an established stakeholder leadership structure which has caucus heads in all states of the federation.
In the South-East geopolitical zone, our presidential candidate, His Excellency Peter Obi, came into the party with an established leadership structure comprising respected elder statesmen and political leaders who serve as caucus heads in their respective states.
The caucus leaders are:
• Abia State – Chief Onyema Ugochukwu, former Chairman of the NDDC Board.
• Ebonyi State – His Excellency Dr. Sam Egwu, former Governor, former Minister, and former Senator.
• Enugu State – His Excellency Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo, former Governor, former National Secretary, and former National Chairman of the PDP.
• Imo State – His Excellency Chief Achike Udenwa, former Governor and former Minister.
• Anambra State – Since His Excellency Peter Obi is our presidential candidate, his team coordinates the process.
These leaders were entrusted with conducting stakeholder consultations, building consensus, and making recommendations to the party based on their understanding of the peculiar political dynamics in their respective states. In addition, each state has recognized stakeholders and grassroots leaders who participate in consultations and make recommendations regarding party affairs.
This process was conducted without prejudice to the rights of any aspirant. Where aspirants disagreed with recommendations made by stakeholders or caucus leaders, they were free to test their popularity through the democratic process at the grassroots level, and this was duly accommodated.
At no time has the NDC National Secretariat been involved in the business of picking, choosing, or imposing candidates on any constituency or state. Every aspirant who approached the party was received, attended to, and directed to engage with the appropriate caucus leaders, stakeholders, and grassroots members of the party in their respective states.
In line with its affirmative action policy, the party has demonstrated a commitment to encouraging and supporting female participation in elective offices, and has done so in some cases. The party has also expressed an interest in protecting and supporting serving members of parliament. Beyond these considerations, all aspirants were referred to their state caucus leaders and all those who bought Expression of Interest Forms were asked tobgo into the field and participate in the primaries. We are aware of reports of some aspirants prematurely declaring themselves as candidates, as well as complaints raised by others regarding aspects of the process. These issues have been brought to the attention of the appeal panel and the leadership of the party and have been addressed accordingly.
As resolved at yesterday's NEC meeting, we now look forward to the commencement of a comprehensive reconciliation process. We count on our esteemed caucus leaders, state chairmen, stakeholders, and party leaders to engage all aspirants and members in the interest of unity, cohesion, and the continued growth of our party.
For this reason, throughout the past several months, whenever aspirants or stakeholders approached the party regarding elective positions, we consistently referred them to their respective state caucus leaders. Likewise, those with concerns or grievances were advised to channel such matters through their caucuses for resolution.
His Excellency Peter Obi and His Excellency Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso are leaders who not only speak but also act. They consistently back their words with tangible results and meaningful actions. Their commitment to service, integrity, and leadership is reflected not just in what they say, but in what they do. True leadership is demonstrated through action, and they continue to set that example. Nigeria Will be OK

The journey to a better nation continues, and millions of Nigerians remain hopeful and inspired.
A New Nigeria is Possible and Nigeria will be OK
I extend my sincerest condolences to the High Command and Leadership of the Nigerian Military and the Police over the tragic loss of our courageous officers.
It is with deep sadness that I acknowledge the heartbreaking death of 17 brave police officers, alongside an unspecified number of soldiers, who made the ultimate sacrifice during the recent terrorist attack on a military school in Yobe State. At this moment of profound sorrow, the entire nation stands in solidarity with the leadership of the Armed Forces, the Police, the affected commands, and the wider security community.
Every security personnel killed is a tragedy to our nation. Every fallen officer represents a family thrown into grief, children left without parents, and communities robbed of those sworn to protect them.
The Federal Government must ensure adequate compensation, support, and long-term welfare for the families of all those who paid the supreme price in service to our nation.
A nation cannot continue to normalise the killing of its security personnel and innocent citizens without urgent, decisive, and strategic action. We must confront insecurity with sincerity, professionalism, and the political will necessary to protect lives and restore public confidence.
To the families of the fallen heroes, I offer my deepest and most heartfelt sympathies. We mourn with you, and we honour the courage and sacrifice of your loved ones. May their souls rest in eternal peace. -PO
The continuous attacks and abductions of schoolchildren in different parts of Nigeria are painful and unacceptable. When children become pawns in a ransom economy, the future of the nation is placed in danger. Every child deserves safety, quality education, and the freedom to learn without fear.
Protecting our schools must remain a top priority through stronger security, community cooperation, and justice for perpetrators. For the actualization of a New Nigeria that is possible, we must invest in the safety, education, and wellbeing of our children.
A New Nigeria will be POssible, and Nigeria is OK.
Sad: Schoolchildren Now ‘Pawns in Ransom Economy’
There is nothing more heartbreaking for a nation than an inability to protect its children. The recent attacks and kidnappings of students from two schools—in Mussa Village, Askira/Uba LGA, Borno State (North-East) and Ahoro-Esinele community, Oriire Local Government Area, Oyo State (South-West)—mark a grave crisis that threatens the future of the nation. Beyond the immediate terror of these acts, they represent a significant infringement on the basic right to education and a safe upbringing. The fear of further abduction often leads children—especially girls—to permanently leave school.
The ongoing “out-of-school” crisis is alarming in itself, and it is likely to worsen due to these distressing incidents.
In areas frequently affected by such attacks, education systems often deteriorate. Fear becomes a substantial obstacle to school enrollment, adding to the already high number of children currently not attending school.
Ensuring the safety of schools is not just a logistical issue; it is a moral obligation. Protecting the next generation demands a blend of community-led intelligence, the physical strengthening of educational facilities, and a transparent justice system that holds wrongdoers accountable.
For the actualization of a new Nigeria that is POssible, we must make the safety, education, and wellbeing of our children a priority. -PO
