The interesting truth is that $25 an hour is only $1000 a week before taxes, average rent for a 2 bedroom in RI is $3000 a month leaving only a $1000 leftover for everything else. Raising the minimum wage is not the solution to this problem and only increases cost for everyone else. Politicians need to stop spending everyone else’s money like a blank check, stop subsidizing healthcare, and large public companies, giving out huge tax breaks to large public corporations once they do prices will start to come back down because people won’t be willing to pay those outrageous prices. Supply and demand is what a capitalist economy is built on. No company is ever going to lower their stock price after they post profits contributed to by free cash. Take a lesson from China, the CCP subsidizes every business to kill foreign competition, and take over industries. The US closed a large portion of our economy to them, the money dried up, and now their economy is in shambles.
@GovDanMcKee If you are born here you are American and should fly an American flag, not a flag of another country, learn our culture, our language and customs and stop forcing people to accommodate your culture and beliefs.
It’s interesting how democrats label them as military style assault weapons to scare people into supporting restrictions on our 2nd amendment rights when not one branch of our military uses them to defend our country or others during an actual war. Nor do any other military in the world.
@BostonPatrolmen No actually the public does not find this acceptable and it’s all the more reason why BPD should stop supporting liberals for office and tell thier union to pound sand when asked to support them. This is what happens when you follow blind over the cliff.
@BostonPatrolmen@BOSCityCouncil It’s about time BPD woke up! Stop endorsing liberals to office or you should just retire or resign. They do not support law enforcement.
@ChrisMurphyCT This might get you votes, but it still won't fix the underlying issue. The average rent in any major city is $3k per month for a 1-bedroom. $25.00 an hour is $4K a month before taxes. What's left is barely enough for young graduates to live on.
Rep. Omar, before lecturing on SNAP cuts: Your own Minnesota saw $250 MILLION stolen from federal child nutrition programs via the Feeding Our Future scandal. Dozens were convicted, and the ringleader got 500 months in prison. Taxpayers funded luxury cars & trips instead of meals. Tighten rules to stop fraud—not defend wast
It's ironic how the Government drained SS to fund pet projects, gave benefits to people who didn't deserve them, and now they want us to pay back the money they spent—for the money we already contributed. Lifting the payroll tax cap is just another tax hike on workers while ignoring the IOUs, fraud, waste, and demographic reality. Stop raiding the fund first. Fix it properly, or let us opt out. #SocialSecurity
@elonmusk I'm confused, is China an ally or an enemy? Or is it all just smoke and mirrors, because without an enemy, we wouldn't need to spend $1T on defense?
88 corps reported $105B in book profits (GAAP accounting for investors) but paid $0 in federal taxes. That's not 'rigged'—it's legal deductions Congress created for R&D, accelerated depreciation on real investments, & expensing. Book ≠ taxable income. These rules encourage growth & jobs, not evasion. Actual corp tax revenue is strong; timing differences mean many pay big in other years.
@SenWarren
The pin example is from 2019. Under Obama, your side pushed hard to reduce reliance on military contractors through insourcing initiatives and cuts to contractor workforces to save taxpayer money. Yet you voted yes on major bills sending tens of billions in U.S. aid and weapons to Ukraine—much of it flowing to defense contractors, many with private equity ties. Selective outrage?
@ewarren $40T in debt and your solution is to take more money from the people and never fix the actual issue. News flash, how about cutting your spending of other people’s money.
