Happy birthday @shadows_eth! You mad bastard, giving us the Statica music video today, as if it were OUR birthday! Thank fuck we've still got you making insane shit, my heart is so full. 🥹💕
Kavinsky, the French music producer and DJ whose hypnotic anthem “Nightcall” became a cult classic after opening Nicolas Winding Refn’s “Drive,” has died. He was 50.
The artist was found dead at his Paris home on Tuesday evening. Authorities have opened an investigation into the circumstances of his death, though no foul play has been reported. https://t.co/k33pKpLXte
@CurtMarshall10@GuitarGuyHaner Honestly I dont see this side project having the impact of coe, but even coe dropped in June of 05 and didnt hit radio until Sept. Its been 4 days for statica, lol. Shit happens faster these days, and this is still niche. I am seeing fans of it tho, so weirder shit has happened.
@CurtMarshall10@GuitarGuyHaner I think its easy to underestimate just how upset the original fanbase was when coe came out, just because coe is the album that broke them big. Coe originally flopped from that. I DO think this is the biggest risk they've taken since the self-titled-thus the side project.
@CurtMarshall10 I won't argue that coe was more commercially accessible, but it sounds like you weren't there for the meltdown of their hardcore fans at the time when they shifted their sound. This speaks to what @GuitarGuyHaner was saying. Big sonic shift, lose some fans, gain even more.
@GuitarGuyHaner@CurtMarshall10 Nah, nobody thinks it will happen to them, since surely THEIR favourite is going to be the one the band sticks with/goes back to. Some of us love the pattern for what it is 😂 Some apparently, will die mad about httk->the stage, wtf->coe, etc. Their loss 🤷♀️
If I understand right, they're also no longer beholden to any record company. They can dick around to their hearts delight! I'm incredibly happy to see them having fun, trying different things, and going new places 💕 This is all fucking lovely to see.
I get that when people love something, they never want it to change. Or at best, they want incremental change. But art and artists must move forward to survive.
The groove and guitar on Ashes are amazing.
And Rejoice is simply a beautiful fucking song.
Well done @TheOfficialA7X
