This is a MYTH! While exercise is great and important for optimal health, it is not the only way to lose weight. Research proves that eating a whole food diet high in fiber (from food versus supplements), good protein sources, and healthy fats is key to weight loss.
These are ALL MYTHS! While meditation practices have roots dating back thousands of years used by various religions, today's meditation practices are not associated with any religion.
THIS IS A MYTH. Benefits come from eating whole foods high in fiber (think: vegetables, fruit, beans/legumes) due to the nutrients and plant compounds found in these foods that work synergistically to promote health and can't be replaced by over-the-counter fiber supplements.
This is a MYTH! Many individuals tend to associate specific phrases or buzzwords like “plant-based” on food products as automatically being better for us. However, just because a food is labeled as “plant-based” does not necessarily give it the free pass to be deemed healthy.
This is a MYTH! There is an old school idea that eating small amounts every 2-3 hours is necessary to keep your metabolism going. Digesting food does require some energy or calories, but the idea that we only burn calories when digesting food is entirely incorrect.
This is a MYTH! Chronic stress produces cortisol, which negatively affects digestion, metabolism, and overall health. When you're stressed, your liver produces extra glucose to give you the burst of energy needed to deal with the stress.
This is a MYTH! You do not need carbohydrates in your diet to meet your daily fiber needs! You can get plenty of fiber from consuming a variety of fiber-rich plant foods that are naturally low in carbohydrates and will have much less impact on blood sugar levels than many grains.
This is a MYTH! While we believe there are benefits to eating gluten-free, not everything labeled “gluten-free” equates to healthy! Be cautious when purchasing gluten-free items that come in boxes and bags.
This is a MYTH! Salt is crucial for your health and is necessary to maintain electrolyte balance, adequate blood volume, and regulate nerve and muscle function.
This is a MYTH! Cholesterol is a fat-like substance, but it is different than fat. Cholesterol has a bad rap, but it is important & needed in our body. It helps form the barrier around all of the cells in our bodies. It is also needed for our body to make hormones & Vitamin D.
This is a MYTH! Your lab test results may come back normal, but they might not be in the range that’s optimal for your health. When it comes to interpreting labs, “normal” doesn’t always equal healthy.
