Our country is growing, and women have played, and continue to play, a huge role in what this nation is and what it can become. But if we want Bharath to grow without losing what makes our civilisation unique, there are some things we all need to be very consciously aware of and do something about:
1. Women are marrying later, and more are choosing fewer children, no children, or not to marry, while rising divorces and expectations around marriage are reshaping family life.
2. Families are becoming smaller and increasingly nuclear, with children growing up with fewer or no siblings and less day-to-day connection with grandparents and extended family.
3. More women are pursuing education and careers while continuing to carry significant responsibilities at home, which can put increasing pressure on their time, health, and well-being.
4. As families become smaller and women work outside the home, childcare and care for ageing parents are increasingly shared with domestic workers, institutions and professional services.
5. Greater reliance on restaurants, food delivery and prepared food is reducing home cooking and the shared family time traditionally built around meals, while also raising questions about the health and nutrition of our families.
6. The transmission of our languages, family histories, civilisational knowledge, festivals, rituals, crafts, music, recipes and traditional skills increasingly requires conscious effort.
7. As more aspects of domestic life are replaced by commercial services, technology and convenience, activities once performed, taught and experienced together within families are increasingly outsourced.
8. As women's lifestyles become more modern and globally influenced, everyday expressions of Indian cultural and spiritual identity, from the bindi and traditional adornment to rituals and customs, are becoming less prominent.
These are worries I have carried in me for a long time.
In 2024, I started a small group to bring women in Dharapuram together around some of these concerns. We have had quite a few productive discussions and now have a WhatsApp group of over 100 women, although we are not consistently active.
Recently, I had the opportunity to become part of Karmayogini, an organisation conceptualised by @sgurumurthy, and it has allowed me to think about how we could take this much further, by being part of something larger, bringing more women together and creating meaningful ways for us to learn, share and act.
Because we women have a big responsibility. We owe it to our ancestors. We owe it to our future generations. We owe it to ourselves to do the right things, even when they are sometimes difficult.
I have always believed that when a woman changes, a family changes. When families change, society changes. When society changes, communities change. And when communities change, a nation changes. This is our power and our responsibility as women in Bharat today.
Never an @actorvijay fan. Never a “squirrel.”
Just an intelligent, socially responsible & selfless person chose TVK today.
That’s the real shift happening — ppl aren’t choosing a star. They’re choosing a corruption-free leader who can transform TN.

@VineethaGov@IndusFarmer I wondered the same. A few KFI schools match almost all your criteria—schools in BLR, AP & TN where security guards’ kids & ex-CM’s family kids learn together as a community, with differentiated fees. Wish there were more such schools so many more could benefit!

@MVhandle I totally second this! 😄
Just walked out of an AMAZING physio session thinking: Yep, AI/robots can do a lot… but I’m not letting a robot massage my back anytime soon! 😂
Made me wonder—what jobs will ALWAYS need the human touch?
Literally. 😜

Sir, I know all of you have been working very hard over the past few days in Dharapuram. We can feel it, as it affects our daily lives here.
If you address the genuine, pressing issues of Dharapuram, your party will not need to work this hard to win—especially given Mr. Vijay’s popularity.
1. Revoke the 1994 GO and retain Uppar Dam under the PAP scheme. Ensure it is filled at least every alternate year.
2. Upgrade the status of Kongur Lake, the largest in our area, as it is a vital groundwater source for the entire region.
3. Clean up Raja Canal by strictly preventing hospital (GH) waste and slaughterhouse waste from being dumped into it.
4. Implement an effective solid waste management system for Dharapuram town.
5. Issue a state-wide GO to strictly prohibit the burning of plastic anywhere in Tamil Nadu.
Kongur Lake as of September 27, 2026
This year's drought is showing its true force. It is tough for us, but even tougher for the wildlife that cannot express its agony in words as we can.
A member of our local lake committee explained how the lake was once maintained with abundant trees.
These trees used to host thousands of native and migratory birds during the winter. Losing trees means losing countless lives and habitats—a silent pain that goes unnoticed unless one is truly attuned to nature.

@svembu This is dream come true! A Velachery EB officer demanded bribe of Rs.2k for a name change and sent me the gpay number of a lady co-worker, she called me few times. I didn't confront openly, but I refused to pay. My application went through. Let's all do our bit to support this!
@mkstalin Idhuve sariyana matram. Rather than having freebies, having an honest, corruption free government is lot more beneficial to the citizens. SO we really don't care about the free money for women or free cylinders when we get a quality and fair governance.
100%! Many kids, even though they live within walking/cycling distance of their schools, are still dropped off and picked up by their parents because there are no safe pedestrian or cycling pathways.
How wonderful it would be to see school students safely walking or cycling to school! It’s good for their physical health and also builds so much confidence when we give children the opportunity to do this independently.
There are other safety concerns too, like stray dogs, child safety, and more. But that’s for another post…
