@dublinbusnews it looks like one of your 15B drivers started its journey during rush hour at stop 1016 on Richmond Street. Could you please address the two issues I have mentioned? No 15Bs from stop 400 for 40 minutes
@GaulDukat @TomasOMahony @hazechu It’s literally just facts. I don’t know how anyone would think otherwise and that migration didn’t happen. There’s no label on it except history and the beginning of life I suppose
@GaulDukat @TomasOMahony @hazechu No because this is just facts, there wasn’t just 2 people plonked in every single country from the beginning of life. Migration happened. I’m Irish and looking at your comments, I really don’t think you’re even Irish
@GaulDukat @TomasOMahony @hazechu We all came from somewhere, we weren’t just plonked on a piece of land and grown from there, someone would’ve had to travel to Ireland from another country in the past to discover it, so where do you draw the line
@GaulDukat @TomasOMahony @hazechu What if someone who migrated to Ireland hundreds of years ago and had generations and generations of family here? Would the generation here today be Irish? And especially considering interracial families, they could appear to be fully white now?
@GaulDukat @TomasOMahony @hazechu But her nationality is Irish. She was born in Ireland. Her passport is Irish. All the facts are there, she’s Irish. While she might ethically be Asian due to her ancestors, she is Irish. Just like you said, there is White-Irish, there is also Asian-Irish, Black-Irish etc
@GaulDukat @TomasOMahony @hazechu Yes country and ethnicity are not the same.
Ireland (a nation/country), Irish (a nationality), white/Asian (an ethnicity)
@GaulDukat @TomasOMahony @hazechu I didn’t ask. I never even said anything about migration and ethnicity. My comment was in response to your ignorant ‘keep it in Ireland’ comment. Migration is a good thing, that being said, Hazel did not migrate here, she was born here
@GaulDukat @TomasOMahony @hazechu This makes no sense? They’re both countries. You can’t just say one is one thing and the other isn’t just because they have a bigger population.
Irish is nationality, Asian/White etc is ethnicity
@GaulDukat @TomasOMahony @hazechu If no one migrated, the world would be boring. We wouldn’t experience and enjoy different cultures/food/music. Migration isn’t something negative, it’s about creating a more diverse and interesting environment
@GaulDukat @TomasOMahony @hazechu You said ‘American’ is not an ethnicity, so therefore ‘Irish’ isn’t an ethnicity either, right?
I’m sure she doesn’t discard her Asian ethnicity, but she sure can be proud of her Irish nationality, and like I said, that’s a compliment to Ireland
@GaulDukat @TomasOMahony @hazechu She has not treated any Irish with disrespect, only respect. She is proud to be Irish. That is the biggest compliment anyone can make for our country. She contributes to society by working and volunteering, she has been everything but disrespectful, let’s treat her the same way
@GaulDukat @TomasOMahony @hazechu Just because you don’t agree she’s Irish, doesn’t make you right either. Fact over opinion, she was born in Ireland and has an Irish passport, can’t argue with the constitution.
But going back to respect, it goes both ways, don’t expect it if you don’t give it
@GaulDukat @TomasOMahony @hazechu You’re missing my point. Someone can consider themselves the nationality of the country they were born in and also have ancestors from other countries. Such as here, Hazel is Irish as she was born in Ireland but has foreign ancestors, like the other commenter said, Chinese-Irish
@GaulDukat @TomasOMahony @hazechu If she was born and raised in Ireland, she is Irish with foreign ancestors. Think of all the people who live in America with Irish ancestors, they are American. This isn’t hard to imagine as nearly 2 million Irish moved to USA during the famine
