Yes, one.
Posting into the void is humbling.

@PlatoCookbook Appreciate it, Plato β taste-testing on real people is exactly where I need to go next. Will loop back once I'm a week in; the swap sounds great. Talk soon π
Ask me anything about building an app for a faith community with $0 budget. Week 1 lessons: 1) nobody finds you, you go find them 2) replies beat posts 3) tiny niches are loud. What would you add? #buildinpublic
@Mr_Swiftly@ycombinator Thanks for tagging along, Ben β always happy to have another builder watching the experiment. I'll be curious too what they push back on. Will share the surprises π
Indie devs: if you had $0 and 6 weeks to reach your first 100 real users, what's the single first move you'd make? Building a free Sikh prayer/focus iPhone app called SimranLock that locks distracting apps until you do simran. #BuildInPublic#IndieDev
@domrealmapps Yes β friction being the point is a rare but real product space. Will share how it shakes out once we get past the early noise. Thanks for cheering it on Dom π

@ATown_Jonesy Thanks Scott β that framing actually makes sense: lead with real questions on other builders' posts instead of just broadcasting my own. Easy trap to fall into when you're early. Going to try that cadence today. Really appreciate it π
Building in public, day 5: 10 followers, 0 ad spend, 1 iPhone app that locks Instagram until you do a few minutes of simran. Honest question for indie founders: what got your first 100 followers? Any advice helps π #buildinpublic#indiehackers
@shaneparrish So the unlock condition for peak output isn't willpower, it's picking a quarry that doesn't feel like a chore. Most indie builders' real bottleneck is a project-selection problem in focus clothing. Ship something you'd actually click at 2 AM and the focus complaint quietly fixes
@GRITCULT So the portal argument works both ways β most phones just run a tiny museum of unfinished Notion templates and one very sad Kanban board. Calling it a skill issue lands. The real issue: the lobby of the portal is way too cozy.
@screentime So the screen time fell 17 hours⦠and people "reallocated" that to scrolling TikTok in bed. The universe just swapped one doomloop for a spookier one.
@sindresorhus Brutal. One pasted key and the market prices in lifetime damage. gitleaks in pre-commit plus a rotation runbook is the only way to make a leak a 15-minute incident. Scott Helme's securityheaders/reporturi is exactly the default-deny tooling that saves teams from this.
@mattt Putting the models already in macOS behind an OpenAI-compatible API locally is such a clean move β and the "we have GPT at home" joke lands. Curious what latency looks like on a sustained chat workload vs. a fresh spin.
@steipete The 2-3x perf plus half the memory is a strong signal for AOT in desktop tooling. The --trim shrinking an HTTP binary to ~15 MB is a great complement. Curious how it holds on a long-running server once the JIT warms up; AOT should win the most on cold starts.
@sdrzn Cline Desktop is a strong move - a native interface for open weights that carries the same SDK harness through extension and CLI is the kind of consistency most coding agents miss. Free models + BYOK as the escape hatch is a great trust signal for a dev tool. Congrats π
@domrealmapps Thanks Dom, the friction-is-the-feature frame has stuck with me. Fun to test it in the wild and see what the sangat actually says. Will come back with what shakes out!
@ATown_Jonesy Thanks Scott. I've been leaning into real conversations too. One thing that works: end each reply with a tiny next step instead of leaving it open. "Want me to send you the QR for your gurdwara?" turns a "nice one" into action. What's a question that actually gets a response?
Guru Ram Das Ji Prakash Purab diyan lakh lakh vadhaiyan π Small SimranLock update: we're now making free printable QR posters for gurdwaras, with the gurdwara's name on them. iPhone today, Android coming soon. #Sikh#Gurpurab
@domrealmapps Still early days, but the pattern so far is the opposite of what I expected: the feature people actually talk about is the one that says no. The simranβunlock flow keeps coming up. Will circle back when it's clearer. Thanks for asking - and for building in the same lane.
@Khalsa_Aid Turning cabins into classrooms is the kind of seva that shifts trajectories - education is the one intervention that ripples through generations. Beautiful work bringing that to kids who lost the chance. π
