Wrote this for the independent on our launch as the UK's first yoga teachers' union, my experiences in the industry, and yoga's history of resistance #yogameansunion
"The need for unity and action in the industry has never been clearer. " Powerful words from our very own @simransuppal on the material realities of being a yoga teacher, the need for political action in the sector and solidarity beyond it.

Highlights from the day included a poetry workshop on the theme of trans joy (run by poet @simransuppal) and delicious food from Majeda (a chef from the organisation @migratefulUK)
✨2023 highlight: ✨In June @AllAboutTrans hosted a trans joy picnic for the transgender community to come together & celebrate trans lives. We brought together organisations & people from across the sector to share in a day of collective joy, care & nourishment for trans people.
Special thanks to Luca Asta for taking such beautiful photos, @simransuppal for a moving and celebratory poetry workshop centred around trans joy & Majeda from The Syrian Sunflower for the delicious food (thank you @migrateful for putting us in touch)

@barboras14 Yess - love to hear it ✊🏽 it's actually our AGM on Monday if you wanted to come to that, but no rush - always so many opportunities to meet people / see what's happening and get involved ❤️❤️❤️
@zamarudd Not to totally miss the point of what you are saying but unions are winning all the time as much as they are losing all the time and this is the small speck of hope and joy and belief that I just do not want to let go of
@zamarudd I really really hear you in this - my core hope tho is that the one good reason to apply for a job is to unionise it and build power and potentially if not salvage a lot, salvage at least something from this violent disaster capitalism
📢📰 "The union strives to break the misconception that yoga teachers are spiritual beings divorced from the material world, in one of the UK’s newest gig economy sectors"
