Pause to reflect, then move swiftly. As she talked, the breeze rustled through the heather, seeming to answer her, and she sensed a nearness, a gentle heat, as though her forebears stood with her, keeping watch, leading her, beaming with pride at the young woman she was growing
@Jonheathcote@makotonkjm But more than 50% of that is held by BOJ and GPIF. And MOF holds about $1.2 trillion Treasuries. Japan is in a better shape than the U.S. when you look at the consolidated government debt liabilities to GDP ratios.
@HannoLustig Agreed. And the top 0.1% (0.01%?) donate tons of money to these universities that use some of the funds to subsidize students from the bottom 60%. The "rich" (top 65% to 99.9%) are worse off.
@ProfJAParker Jonathan is so correct. With the pressure to appease the lunatic left in the party, she can move to the middle and get the independent votes. Such a low hanging fruit. Who is advising her?
@Jess_Hoel If we are talking about Raj Chetty, $10 million would generate about $400,000 risk-free income. His Google citations are about 120 times of yours. If he were to take 120 times your $5,000, that would bring in $600,000. One can argue that you hold more power. Just saying.
@ATabarrok I would simply say: " Inflation has been about 2% during 1983-2020, about 37 years. Were they dumb? But in 2020 they decided to get "greedy?"
@annastansbury What is the policy implication? If you have parents with PhDs and you are very deserving (high GRE scores, university education, tons of quantitative prep, etc.) we should exclude you from PhD programs? Because you say so? And admit low GRE/grades from families with no degrees?
@M_De_Nardi More than 10 years ago and should have done so earlier. I did ask my daughter at the time but now you can google every little detail. Do it!
@RobinBrooksIIF Misleading graph. The was is on Ukranian soil with all her industries impacted. So the answer to your first question should be: perhaps. Your second questions is about the future; let's wait and see.
