They paint citizen auditors as villains for monetizing scrutiny, while their own paid journalists do similar work with badges and big salaries.
Take Nick Shirley (@NickShirley): his Minnesota daycare videos exposed alleged massive fraud via on-site filming and records checks (auditor-style). It went viral, sparked investigations… and now his X account is suspended.
Legacy media misses or soft-pedals stories until independents force the issue, then the system pushes back. Rights testing and fraud exposure shouldn’t require a corporate press pass. Free country means testing freedoms—not silencing the testers.
