📢I strongly condemn the malicious and ignorant statements of U.S. Congresswoman @JasmineForUS - , who labeled Argentina has a "racist" country. Reducing an entire nation to an offensive stereotype and defaming 46 million people, that is not only unjust: it is intellectually dishonest.

Faced with such a serious accusation that seeks to establish an anti-Argentine narrative in the world, I do not respond with opinions or subjective views: I respond with history, with real data, and with the truth about our sport.

📌THE NATIONAL TEAM IS BUILT ON MERIT, NOT ON A WOKE AGENDA
🇦🇷 In Argentina, wearing the National Team jersey is the exclusive result of merit, effort, and athletic performance on the field. Our country is not governed by corporate quota or racial agendas to assemble a squad. The best footballers in the country join the Argentine national team, regardless of their socioeconomic background or physical characteristics.

- Early abolition: While the United States maintained legal slavery until 1865, Argentina enacted the Law of Free Wombs in the Assembly of the Year XIII (1813) and enshrined the definitive abolition of slavery in its 1853 Constitution (Article 15).

HYPOCRISY AND LACK OF SELF-CRITICISM
It is astonishing that this accusation comes from the representative of a country whose history is deeply marked by institutionalized discrimination:
- Legal slavery until 1865. Promoted by the Democratic Party.
- Racial segregation under the Jim Crow laws and the "separate but equal" doctrine, also promoted by the Democratic Party, until the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
- The prohibition of interracial marriage in several states until 1967.
- The Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882, which prohibited the entry of Chinese citizens into the U.S. and denied civil rights to those already living in the United States.
- And the internment of more than 100,000 people of Japanese descent in camps in 1942.

This history of brutal segregation should prompt Congresswoman Crockett to exercise prudence and self-criticism, instead of attempting to lecture South American nations on morality.
Statements like hers only fuel xenophobia and widespread misinformation.

Argentina isn't perfect. What country is? But my country has never created racist laws; quite the contrary, my country has been a pioneer in civil and human rights, even enacting laws against xenophobia and racism.

If an elected Argentine official were to attempt to define the United States with a generalized label, it would be considered unacceptable.
Respect between nations must be reciprocal.

I condemn all acts of discrimination, and therefore I will not allow our country to be defamed by officials who use racial categories that belong to their own history and seek to cover up their own historical traumas.
