Two hours and thirty-one minutes after Pakistani terrorist Ajmal Kasab was hanged, Rana Ayyub called his execution barbaric and a legal murder. This was a terrorist caught alive, he confessed that he and nine Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists were sent to India to kill Hindus as part of jihad, massacring 166 innocent people in Mumbai. Yet Ayyub’s instinct was not to stand with the victims. It was to humanise a terrorist who participated in one of the bloodiest attacks on Indian soil. That impulse alone lays bare her true role: a terror apologist pretending to be a journalist.

For years, the West, especially the United States, has enabled her with platforms and fellowships, even as Indian courts have flagged her work for factual inconsistencies, selective storytelling, and wilful distortion. It is a curious indulgence. A superpower that lost six of its own citizens to the same terrorists still rolls out a red carpet for someone who downplays their crimes. It lends troubling credibility to the belief that Western patronage has often ignored or quietly enabled South Asian terrorism so long as the victims were Hindus.

Ayyub is not a defender of civil liberties. She is a polarising figure who normalises extremist narratives. The real question is why the West still keeps rewarding her.

Nepali national Bipin Joshi was killed by Hamas in captivity. His body was handed over to Israel and Nepal embassy is bringing his body back to the family

So Hamas has kept his dead body but they didn't keep the body of female hostages because postmortem will reveal how they were murdered. Probably no one will know what happened to their body.

Last year Hamas handed over the dead body of Shiri Bibas, mother of 2, as a ceasefire deal but the DNA report confirmed it was not her so that could be the reason why they didn't even keep their bodies.

There is a point about R&D I make repeatedly: R&D is not expensive but time intensive and best results are achieved by teams who stay committed long term.

American companies solved the need for long term committed people with the H1-B visa and the extremely long green card process, both of which made it painful or risky to switch jobs. This gave them a source of committed talent.

Since companies tend to promote those who are committed, Indians got promoted. There was no conspiracy to promote Indians, it was one consequence of the visa/green card system.

Tech companies in India need to realize the importance of this. It is about creating that culture of long term focus on R&D.
