Chili-fest ‘24 was enjoyed by FMS faculty and staff with prizes being awarded to the top 3 favorite chilis prepared by Mrs. Fletcher, the pairing of Mrs. Hurst and Mrs. Parrish, and Mrs. Mullener. Afterwards we completed some PD on student performance data. @fort_mccoy
Today we celebrated our first group of Big 3 Big Shots. They felt like super stars dining on the stage and their classmates were curious as to what they needed to do to be a Big Shot! #winning#cougars @fort_mccoy
@WeAreTeachers Teachers are ridiculed and disrespected by our state government who repeatedly passes laws that hurt our public schools and the students we serve.
@paulhoffman007@CalltoActivism Unless you’ve been in an interracial relationship, you have no idea! I’ve been with the same black man for years and we’ve endured much behavior similar to this. He’s accustomed to it. I never will be and take offense to the ignorance of people.
Tampa AVID summer institute 2023 is great! In Strategic Leadership we reviewed Socratic Seminars with the article, Becoming a Warm Demander which yielded some truly productive dialogue then joined thousands of our AVID colleagues to close our day at the general assembly. #AVID
Our AVID students traveled to College of Central Florida for a tour, time in the Robotics lab, and a lesson on electricity by Carson with the IBEW Local 1205 who also guided them into wiring their own lamps. Parent Site Team members chaperoned the classes. #AVID#tours
Whisker plots filled most of today’s 6th grade tutorials. Struggle in the beginning yielded grande results by the last round of questioners. #AVID#collaboration#tutorials
7th grade tutorials were feisty, today, as they grappled over the legitimacy of the questions and the steps necessary to solve them. If ever there were a day when inquiry were the main attraction, today was that day! #AVID#Tutorials#inquiry
My 6th grade #AVID students visited Phoenix Wood Products to learn about the pallet making industry. We preceded our visit with an article teaching us about ISPM-15 inspections and the types of wood used. We also presented our business partner a plaque of gratitude.
Cooperative learning activities for our Fun Friday included Turn the Tarp, hoop ring rangle, and lava land (not shown) for problem solving practice. #leaders#AVID#COLLABORATION#teamwork
Today we discovered that some of our 6th grade AVID students are natural orators and really funny. Paper bag speeches provided a platform for public speaking as well as evaluating their peers on learned techniques, skills, and terminology. #AVID#WICOR
New to my district, Representative Bobby Payne, squeezed us into his busy schedule to discuss salary compression, work place conditions, and generational differences in both our students and our unions. Welcome to NE Marion, Rep. Payne! #MarionEA#FEA#AFLCIO
It was a productive meeting with Senator Keith Perry during which we discussed repercussions of school choice for special needs students, salary compression, and the decertification of our unions if memberships drop below a rising 60%. #MarionEA#FEA#AFLCIO
#IAMtheUnion * I was blessed to have met with Representative Stan McClain with fellow educator Jen Mullen to discuss school choice legislation. Always a favorite visit in my advocacy trips, Rep. McClain makes time for viable questions about pending legislation. #FundOurSchools
