🚨Everybody’s Guy, Rajdeep Sardesai
In my cover story for @thecaravanindia’s media issue, I chart the star TV anchor’s contribution to the collapse of news that he laments today — his failure to evolve, access journalism, spiking stories, and more: https://t.co/6jYkcPcGBt
Two Dalits have been lynched on a temple premises in Bihar. Local leader claims the chief priest of the temple incited the mob against the Dalits. Dalits' lynchings almost never make news in English media.

Liberal Savarna ecosystem - media, activists, lawyers, intellectuals - can follow a Dalit leader and chant Jai Bhim after him. That's a happy sight. I'll like to see though what happens when Dipke talks about atrocities and reservation someday. Everybody loves a non-Dalit Dalit.
rahul has surrounded himself (his deliberate choice) with people who can't win a block poll on their own, nor can they get someone else to win. the party's decaying, not rebuilding. no amount of public posturing excuses that. there is no rhetorical free pass for basic failings.
this strange desire to decide when criticism should be levelled by whom is a certificate of correctness given by those who have no sense of political realities. by now it should be clear, whatever else he may be, rahul is a walking disaster as an organisational leader.
stupidity of performative liberalism- yes gymkhana is elitist but the sanghi lot evoking cheap populism has embraced & expanded lutyens elitism: acres-large bungalows for ministers, judges, bureaucrats. if public access is the idea, bring it all down, build a large central park.
Good to see @aajtak show some guts, @aroonpurie. But please tell your employee @knddubey to give credit when his team steals @scroll_in's story. Being ethical is not a bad thing.

🚨Story: A close contest led by TMC in a West Bengal seat flipped to the BJP as a Muslim-majority booth returned 97% votes for the BJP, shows a @scroll_in analysis of the EC's official booth-wise data.

Today marks four years since my aunt, Shireen Abu Akleh, was killed by an Israeli sniper in Jenin.
An iconic journalist, and one of the most empathetic and sweetest people. This is who they killed. She loved life, but they stole hers from her.
