Ever heard of Baagi Ballia?🔥

On 19th August 1942, this small district in Uttar Pradesh did what the whole nation dreamed of — they kicked the British out & declared independence. It lasted for 14 days. Leading this revolt was Chittu Pandey, remembered as the “Sher-e-Ballia.”

The British came back with force. Many were jailed. Many gave their lives. But Ballia had already earned a name: Baagi Ballia.
Since then, Ballia has been proudly called “Baagi Ballia” (Rebel Ballia) — a symbol of sacrifice, valor, and the indomitable spirit of independence.

Today, on Ballia Balidan Diwas, we salute those rebels.Their message was simple: Freedom is not given, it’s taken.

“Ballia’s sacrifice, India’s pride.” 🇮🇳

Glad that the Jai Prakash Narayan Bird Sanctuary (Surha Tal) in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh has been designated as India’s 100th Ramsar site. This wetland is rich in avifaunal biodiversity, attracting several migratory and resident birds.

India’s unwavering commitment to protecting our natural surroundings and wetlands in particular is clearly reflected in this feat.

Over the years, efforts to conserve and rejuvenate wetlands have been strengthened through greater community participation, science, innovation and awareness initiatives. These endeavours are helping preserve biodiversity, secure ecological balance and create a greener future for coming generations.

Since this morning, the water supply has been extremely dirty and foul-smelling. Instead of cleaning our hands, it makes them feel even dirtier. How are we supposed to cook, bathe, or use this water?
