I think going on a trip to Mumbai would heal me somehow. The rain pouring from the sky, the view from sea link, the quiet aestheticism associated with the roads of Mumbai, the dusk observed in the beaches might just fill the void in my heart.
I always thought Udupi was a temple town.
Turns out it gave me one of the most relaxing beach weekends I’ve had in Karnataka.

🚕 Local transport: ₹500 per person in 2 days
🏕️ Stay: Depends on the property and season
Saturday:
📍 Stayed near Kodi Beach with direct sea access
📍 Surf boards provided by the host
📍 Peaceful beach with very few crowds
📍 1.5 hours kayaking through the mangrove forest near Kodi Beach
Tip: Go early morning or after lunch. Midday can get very hot.
Sunday:
📍 Malpe Beach
📍 St. Mary’s Island (don’t miss this)
The boat ride takes around 30 minutes and the volcanic rock formations are unlike anything I’ve seen near Bengaluru.
2 hours on the island is enough. Carry water.
After returning to Malpe, enjoy the beach or try the water sports like Goa
Before heading back, don’t miss lunch at :
🍽️ Thimmappa Fish Hotel
One thing I liked about Udupi:
It felt peaceful.
No rush. No pressure. Just beaches, seafood and slow evenings and lots of fun.
If you’re from Udupi, what else should I add to my next trip
