Henry Nowak’s murder was a horrific crime. Our thoughts remain with his family and loved ones.
Today, Sikh MPs have issued a statement standing in solidarity with Henry’s family, supporting justice and accountability, and rejecting attempts to divide communities.
Statement 👇🏽
Today in the House, I raised the horrific murder of Henry Nowak with the Home Secretary.
The killing was a senseless and appalling crime. My condolences remain with Henry’s family, whose dignity throughout has been remarkable.
I made clear that there is absolutely no religious justification for the actions of Vickrum Digwa. His crimes were mindless, brutal, and wrong, and I welcome the fact that our courts reached the same conclusion. This view is shared across the Sikh community.
I have asked the Home Secretary to meet with MPs to discuss the wider issues of public safety, knife crime and freedom of religious observance raised by this case.
We must honour Henry’s memory by ensuring these important issues are addressed.
The murder of Henry Nowak has triggered calls to ban the Sikh kirpan.
But what actually happened? Was a religious exemption really exploited?
I spoke to Jagbir Jhutti-Johal about the case and why many Sikhs feel their religious freedom is now on trial.

As we learn more about the circumstances surrounding Henry Nowak's death, I urge my colleagues across the House not to use his death as political capital but to focus on Henry and his grieving family, who have lost their loved one.
Deeply saddened by the horrific murder of Henry Nowak and my heartfelt condolences to Henry’s family.
But beware those cunningly politicising people’s pain; scapegoating and throwing under the bus the whole Sikh community, based on the actions of just one violent individual. 2/2
I was born and raised here. Countless brave Sikh soldiers died for Britain, proudly wearing their turban and kirpan.
Thankfully, Rupert and Restore don't get to decide what is British.
Beware … today they’re coming for me, but tomorrow it could be you!
3 White People Killed a 22 Year old SIKH Boy in Canada and After 6 Years the MURDERERS Gpt Sentenced that too 1 for 9 YEARS and other Two only 2 years.
So this doesn't Means that ALL WHITE CHRISTIANS are bad.
Sikh never ABUSED or BULLIED all Christians for these 3 Killers.
Deeply saddened by the horrific murder of Henry Nowak and my heartfelt condolences to Henry’s family.
But beware those cunningly politicising people’s pain; scapegoating and throwing under the bus the whole Sikh community, based on the actions of just one violent individual. 1/2

We are making temporary adjustments to select international services between June and August 2026, necessitated by continued airspace restrictions over certain regions and record high jet fuel prices for international operations.
Despite these changes, Air India will continue to operate over 1,200 international flights every month, maintaining a strong global network across five continents.
We will proactively assist impacted customers through our customer support channels.

Why is Heathrow–London Gatwick @Gatwick_Airport connectivity available for #Delhi routes but not for #Amritsar or #Ahmedabad?
@airindia Air india currently provides an integrated travel option where:
• Passengers flying from @DelhiAirport to @HeathrowAirport can continue to Gatwick via bus under a single ticket
• Even passengers connecting via Delhi (e.g., Hyderabad → Delhi → Heathrow → Gatwick) are offered this seamless option on Air India’s website
However, the reverse logic is not available for Amritsar or Ahmedabad routes.
Passengers flying:
• Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport → Gatwick Airport
are not given the option to:
➡ Continue to Heathrow Airport via the same integrated bus service
➡ Book it under a single ticket
Instead, they are forced to:
✖ Fly via Delhi or Mumbai to reach Heathrow
⸻
✈️ Why this matters
A large Punjabi diaspora population lives closer to Heathrow and areas like Southall.
Providing the same Gatwick → Heathrow connectivity would:
✔ Improve passenger convenience
✔ Expand catchment access ATQ✈️LGW flights
✔ Strengthen Amritsar route competitiveness
✔ Align network consistency across origins
✔ Improve load factors
✔ Strengthen overall network efficiency
⸻
🔍 A simple request
If Heathrow → Gatwick bus connectivity is already enabled in the Air India ticketing system, why not extend the same logic for Gatwick → Heathrow for Amritsar or even for Ahmedabad passengers?
We respectfully request the Air India team to review this opportunity.
We appreciate your continued engagement and efforts in strengthening connectivity.

Thank you for highlighting this important issue @InderjitSSangha.
For many years now, the FlyAmritsar Initiative along with many others has been consistently advocating and lobbying for stronger international connectivity to Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport, Amritsar @aaiasrairport — including better aircraft deployment and improved service standards on existing routes.
The demand you mention is absolutely real. The Punjabi diaspora in the UK has repeatedly demonstrated its commitment to flying directly to Amritsar — even when fares are higher — simply to reach home without the additional long road journeys from Delhi.
However, this loyalty should not be taken for granted.
@airindia currently operates the @bhx_official Birmingham–Amritsar service and also runs 3x weekly Delhi–Amritsar flights, which in reality carry a significant number of Punjab-bound passengers.
If Air India aircraft availability is limited, prioritizing newer aircraft and better onboard product on Amritsar routes would be a reasonable and justified step.
Passengers paying premium fares deserve reliable IFE, consistent service quality, modern aircraft and punctual operations.
The Punjabi diaspora’s dedication to Amritsar is unmatched — and routes serving this market deserve to reflect that demand.
FlyAmritsar Initiative will continue advocating for stronger connectivity and improved passenger experience, and we hope @airindia will listen to these longstanding demands from the global Punjabi community. @TataCompanies@Rishul93@AAI_Official@aaiRedNR@MoCA_GoI
