I’m not big on social media these days but I’ve decided to treat my Twitter as mostly read-only for now. I’m moving to Mastodon; follow me there! https://t.co/HQiaX5oXdK
#Mastodon is a federated social network that isn’t run by a single person or company. https://t.co/iOATISVpXM
@Pup_Amp Are you familiar with @MastodonProject? Plenty of servers there that are explicitly NSFW-friendly — or you can create your own server and set your own rules. See https://t.co/eG0KFiwfmc for more info.
@xuanaonline Have you checked out https://t.co/iOATISVpXM and watched the intro video? If you have, and you’re still confused, do you have specific questions that I can answer?

@HootenHaller I suggest following a few people, and then viewing the toots of only the people you follow. You can also use an app instead of the web interface, if you want: https://t.co/ro0gZNOeFo I use “Toot!” on iOS: https://t.co/KaWAUWYcvH
@HootenHaller As for the “full of posts from people you don’t follow” problem, you’re probably looking at the timeline of *everyone* on your server. It can be fun if you’re on a server that has a dedicated topic or purpose, but otherwise can be a bit chaotic.
@HootenHaller If you want to be in *complete* control, then yes you should host your own server. But realistically speaking, most people can’t or don’t want to do that. It’s perfectly fine to pick a server that someone else hosts.
@HootenHaller If you go to the Gmail website, and try to sign in with the username and password for your Yahoo account, of course it won’t work. You have to sign in with the right account in the right place. Same thing with Mastodon.
@HootenHaller You have to remember *both* your server *and* your username on the server. Just like how an email address has two parts (before the @, and after it), and you have to remember both of them in order to use email.
@joshsimmons Gatsby (@gatsbyjs) looks excellent, and it’s using some cutting-edge tech. It’s all JS, though, and the learning curve is steep if you’re not already familiar with React. I intend to use it for a personal project in the future.
@edropple Hey Ed, I really want to use TaskBotJS, but I’ve run into a LOT of problems. I filed GitHub Issues for them (https://t.co/U7uCVbD30r), but haven’t gotten any response. Are you still maintaining this project?
PayPal apparently has a hidden feature to automatically transfer your balance to your bank account every day. If you don’t trust PayPal, you should enable this feature — and no one should trust PayPal. https://t.co/jAdEo9ipCl /cc @freakboy3742@pydanny
@mr_smaragdine @Pillowfort_io The landing page thinks it’s pretty great, too — but doesn’t actually tell me what Pillowfort *is*. Which is the main job of a landing page, really. 🤔
