Lots of thoughts in my head about Ken Russell's THE DEVILS recently, but some of the strongest in my head are on mass hysteria and the obscene flavor of joy it brings to those that indulge. A thread🧵

I really do think that Dudley Sutton as Baron de Laubardemont is very underrated in terms of discussion and he is absolutely terrific. I love how he will switch from righteous indignation, to cunning and being able to drop the act in all a moment’s notice. He’s so villainous,

@CarterCruise what a film to release in 2026!

[Anthony @oscarobsessive]

After seeing La Bola Negra it’s actually insane to me people think that the odyssey is the movie of the year

[Lawrence of Bushwick @SinginlnTheRain]

@CarterCruise exactly! like he had a laugh but still went along with it. such a great film

La Bola Negra (2026) by Javier Calvo & Javier Ambrossi

[Lawrence of Bushwick @SinginlnTheRain]

@CarterCruise Sadly, yes! The Devils of Loudun (1952) was a historical account of the events that Ken Russell took heavily from.
