@FereraSwan @JenStevie1 Indeed . You mentioned there are solutions available for caring for abandoned babies without impacting their identities. So worth knowing what these solutions are...
@FereraSwan @JenStevie1 The trauma that could come up for adoptees with regards their identity is real & I do acknowledge that.
It's not good enough castigating the whole adoption system though without coming up with alternative solutions.
@FereraSwan Explain how you'd care for an abandoned baby that was discovered alone in the local park with no nametag to identify them , nor family to trace them back to?
@FereraSwan In some cases, the benefits of adoption to certain children far outweigh any potential issues that may come up, so long as certain actions are put in place to address all potential issues that could cause trauma . A good no. of excellent actions available nowadays.
@FereraSwan Not being an adopted child isn't a guarantee to never experiencing trauma in life. Plus some children left in the care of their birtg families would have caused extraordinary trauma in the 1sr place.Every case should be decided based on cost vs benefits of adoption to the child
@FereraSwan I like to read articles like this where adoptees' use their exp to provide constructive advice on how the adoption process can be managed better.Rather than denying that adoption will continue to happen for the foreseeable future.

@FereraSwan And rightly so too.But for now, there are children out there who urgently need a stable family home to be raised in for which we have to make do with the therapy tools & adoption process available for nowhere. Adopters adopting a child in the UK today practice open adoption only.
@FereraSwan There are some scenarios where adoption may be the only way for raising a child.A child who becomes an orphan by way of death of birth mum & dad. And for whom there isn't anyone in their extended family available to take on the parenting role.
I can think of few other scenarios.

@FereraSwan Life story works and other well researched therapy are available nowadays in combination with open adoption to preserve an adoptees'sense of identity.
More research still ongoing on adoptee identity preservation which could in future, address adoptees' needs for identity moreso .
